Now that Spring Break 2024 is over, it’s time to start planning for 2025! Over the last few years I have had the opportunity to help many parent/high school senior groups plan their Senior Trips to tropical destinations. These groups range in size from 7 rooms to over 40 rooms. They are not coordinated through schools, but word of mouth through friend groups. If you have a rising high school senior and are interested in planning something like this for your child and their friends, reach out to me and I can let you know how to get started. Tour of Scarlat (might be my favorite little town in France!)
Located in the east of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine, between the Dordogne Valley and the Vézère Valley, Sarlat is the not-to-be-missed destination of the Périgord Noir. With world-renowned patrimony and gourmet events, there is no end to your discoveries here during a weekend or a longer stay! With a history dating back to the Middle Ages, Sarlat offers you an exceptional setting for your holiday snapshots. This City of Art and History was the first protected historical district in France to have been restored thanks to the Malraux law of 1964. No wonder famous film-makers have been making use of the medieval backdrop of Sarlat since 1928, and why a number of cult films were shot on location here.

We toured the village of Saint-Emilion with A la Française guides which was amazing! Two thousand years of history between men and vines are waiting for you in the Jurisdiction of Saint- Emilion, a remarkable example of a historical vineyard that has got through the ages but yet is still the same. ✈️

Upon leaving Bordeaux we stopped at 2 Chateaus. The first was Chateau Marquis d’Alesme where we had a tour and did a wine tasting. Then we drove an hour to ChateauCote de Baleau where we were treated to a “Chic picnic”. Both were unique experiences which could be totally customized. I loved both! Such a fun morning! ✈️

We had a very special evening with dinner in the cellar of this historic restaurant with the current owner who shared interesting stories of people who have eaten there over the years. They will be celebrating their 200th anniversary next year and a book is being written about the history of restaurant. I can’t wait to read it! We ended the night riding around Bordeaux in classic cars! Oh what a night!

Founded in 1825, the Chapon Fin was one of the first ever three-star restaurants (it was one of the first 33 establishments to be awarded three stars by Michelin in 1933). In the early twentieth century 5 rue Montesquieu was a destination for the cream of society: wealthy Bordeaux merchants, passengers from transatlantic liners, or the glamorous clientele of the Café Anglais in Paris on their way to holiday resorts on the Basque coast...anyone who was anyone would be sure to dine at the Chapon Fi! ✈️

Our final hotel visit and stay in Bordeaux was at the Hotel Burdigala. It became the first 5 star hotel in Bordeaux in 2010. It recently underwent renovations and reopened in July 2023. There are 83 rooms, 2 game rooms, a spa, restaurant, breakfast/bar and snack area and a Cinema! They are also in the process of adding a winter garden on the top floor which will open next year. ✈️

Great visit at the Cite du Vin in Bordeaux. It is a unique cultural Centre dedicated to the universal, living heritage of wine. It offers a spectacular journey around the world, throughout the ages, across countless cultures and civilizations. ✈️

Villa Foch is an adorable boutique hotel located in the heart of Bordeaux. With only 20 rooms, they are really able to cater to all their guests. Everyone is greeted in the Living Room which is conveniently right across from the wine, cocktails and spirits bar. There is a large pool, a sauna, and a breakfast room offering a homemade breakfast. They also offer 24 hour room service! What’s not to love! ✈️

Intercontinental Grand Hotel de Bordeaux (also known at The Grand to locals) is a quaint hotel with 130 rooms located in the heart of Bordeaux, directly across the street from the Opera House. They have a relaxation pool, 8 massage rooms, a sauna and a rooftop bar providing excellent views of the city. On top of all of that, they have a Gordon Ramsey restaurant! ✈️

Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes is a 5 star hotel in Bordeaux, just a 9 minute walk from the Wine and Trade Museum. This property has a restaurant, fitness center, indoor pool and sauna. It is a 19th-century landmark which was originally home to the cellars of the prestigious Maison Calvet. Guests are welcomed to Chartrons, a picturesque area rich in the heritage of wine merchants, with all the hallmarks of the Mondrian experience. Beautiful hotel! ✈️

I’m in France! Over the next few days I will be posting lots of pics from my experience here. Our first stop is in Bordeaux. This is a beautiful city about a 2 hour train ride from Paris. Bordeaux boasts a rich heritage and houses numerous historic and modern monuments. Take a look at some shots from our walking tour of the city. ✈️

Finally got to see what the beaches at 30A are all about and I absolutely loved them! They each have their own vibe and cater towards different crowds. Such a beautiful Florida destination! ✈️

I just had the opportunity to visit Sandals Grande Antigua for the first time and I fell in love with the beach and the sunsets there! The resort is only 15 minutes from the airport and consists of 373 rooms and suites with a wide range of room categories (including concierge and butler rooms). The layout of the resort made it easy to access the 11 restaurants, 6 bars, 6 pools (2 which have a swim up bar) and water sports, no matter where your room is located. At night there is a nice variety of entertainment each night at varying location’s. My favorite thing to do was watch the sunset from the beach each night. This is a perfect resort for honeymooners or people celebrating a birthday or anniversary. I will be back! ✈️

Sandals Grande St Lucian has 322 rooms of which 38 are butler rooms, 101 are club rooms and 173 are luxury rooms. There are 12 restaurants on site and 19 different room categories to choose from (including 9 over the water bungalows)! The beach here is large and beautiful. Sandals Halcyon is a small intimate resort with 194 rooms, 6 restaurants, 7 bars and the longest meandering pool in St Lucia. Halcyon, which means peace and tranquility, is the perfect name for this resort. There are 25 brand new butler suites which are AMAZING! If you are looking for a quiet resort to escape from it all in paradise, Sandals Halcyon is the perfect place for you! ✈️

Sandals Regency La Toc is a gorgeous resort located about 1 1/2hours from the airport in St. Lucia. With 23 different room categories and 9 restaurants, it really has something for everyone. The views are amazing, the people are friendly and it has just the right amount of nighttime entertainment. And if you can’t find what you are looking for here, Sandals Grande St Lucian and Sandals Halcyon are just a shuttle ride away, providing you the opportunity to experience 3 resorts!

The Hyatt Zilara and Ziva Rose Hall resorts are located a quick 15 minutes from the airport in Montego Bay Jamaica. Zilara is the 18 and older side and Ziva is the family side. I love this idea of having the resorts side by side. As an adult, it’s like having 2 resorts in one and it is super easy to walk between the two. There is something for everyone here, whether you are looking for a lively atmosphere or pure relaxation. Find your favorite beach or pool spot and forget all your worries! And definitely hit up the Jerk Hut - you won’t be disappointed!

If you have never visited The Biltmore House for Christmas, you should definitely add it to your list of things to do! I had such a great time exploring and touring the House, grounds and the town of Asheville with coworkers/friends. And The Grand Bohemian Hotel was the perfect location to stay!

I am currently sailing on Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady. Our first port was Key West and it could not have been a more perfect day. We spent the day exploring this town that contains so much history and ended the night back on board for Scarlet Night (everyone wears red). The highlight may or may not have been meeting Judy Blume at her book store or Kermit from Kermit’s Key Lime Pie! All the people both on and off the ship have been so friendly. Stay tuned tomorrow for pictures of the ship as we will be at sea all day.

The 2nd stop in my trip to Costa Rica was to the El Mangroove Hotel in Papagayo. It is a boutique hotel with 121 suites (including 1 new building with new suites). It is located right on the water, unlike many hotels that are located at higher elevations. There is 1 adult only pool and 4 other pools on property as well as 3 restaurants. They are in the process of building 13 new 2, 3 and 4 bedroom villas which are going to be amazing! Included in the resort fee are bikes, yoga, paddle boards, snorkeling, a coffee experience and the relaxation area at the spa. Best of all, it is only 15 minutes from the airport making it easy to get to once you land in Liberia!

Today I got to explore Costa Rica by boat (my favorite way to travel)! We saw monkeys, dolphins, Monkey’s Head Island and lots of beautiful scenery. What a gorgeous country!
