You never know when your mistake will lead to something fabulous.

The request was a gal having a couples wedding shower with a Monopoly theme. She asked if she should do anything to personalize it, and of course I said “Yes!!” Because that’s what I love to do, personalize things!

So she came up with street names that included places that meant a lot to the couple, and suggested 4 other Monopoly symbols for me to use.

I did the car, then realized I put it too high on the cookie, so I thought I’d better add some wording on the bottom to balance it out. First thought was to add “vroom.” Then I did the jail design and wrote “Just Visiting”, and when I did the rail car I thought hmm…maybe I could do “Mr & Mrs Railroad,” kind of like B & O Railroad. And then I thought wait, wouldn’t it be cute if the car said “Just Married” instead of “vroom”…and ohhhh I should put “In Love (instead of Jail) and add “Not” before the Just Visiting (for they’ll be there forever). And then I saw the question mark and thought I’d add “She said yes!” bc he took a Chance, after all.

It came together better than I’d ever imagined, and if you’d asked me what I was going to do 5 minutes before I started, I would have not known at all. It came together because I messed up by placing the car too high on the cookie. Sometimes our mistakes lead to fabulous results!
