It’s time for Tuesday travel trivia! This week is an interesting one. It’s Autumn and for most in the United States and Europe, that means it’s the third season of the year full of cooler days, crisp air and Autumn leaves changing colors. But there is a place where there are only TWO seasons. Where are we?
.
.
.
The Caribbean! There are only really two seasons in this tropical region: dry and rainy (or wet). The Caribbean dry season, or ‘high season’, runs from mid-December through to mid-April, and the wet season (‘low season’) from mid-April through to mid-December. The wet or low season is also stormy, with the official hurricane season being 1 June to 30 November, although they can sometimes occur earlier.

Travel Trivia Tuesday brings us to Provence, France. The French name Provence comes from the Latin name “Province”. Part of this region was one of the oldest Roman provinces outside of the Roman Empire proper. It was originally called “Provincia Nostra” – “Our Province”. But did you know there is a tradition in the region that even pre-dates the Roman Empire?
.
.
.
It’s WINE MAKING! Provence boasts one of Europe’s oldest wine growing traditions. First it was the Greeks, who brought and cultivated wine here in as early as 600 BCE, later continued by the Roman Empire. Christian monks carried on with the wine manufacturing after the fall of the Roman Empire. They developed Provencal wine making throughout for 700 more years after the 5th century.
