Kudos to Doug Sylvester, our provincial Biathlon coach for travelling from North Battleford to promote this Olympic sport to a great group of enthusiastic girls and boys over the noon hour on Tuesday. Everyone got to try out the new “laser” technology and now have a basic understanding of what Biathlon is. Thanks also to Andrea Davis, Mrs. Gel, Carson Johnston and Ms. Sigfusson for their support.

Hudson Bay Ski Club

The snow reminds us that winter activities have begun or will soon - one of them being Nordic Skiing (cross country). Our ski club has enough skis in our stable to outfit all of the students from Pre-K to Grade 12 at some point in the winter. With the hills ready in the Nature/Ski Park adjacent to the football field and the equipment stored upstairs at the Arena, Nordic Skiing has never been so accessible. The landscaping has begun with grass and a few trees and will continue in the spring to provide a windbreak for the skiers and a habitat for nature study.

Accredited coaches offer lessons after school and on weekends for all who wish to learn as well as support for any teacher who would like to take advantage of the equipment and trails with their class. Besides classic Nordic ski equipment, the club also has kick sleds, Biathlon equipment and teaching aids available to encourage all kinds of outdoor winter activity.

To kick off our 23/24 season, Doug Sylvester, Saskatchewan’s provincial Biathlon coach, will be making a presentation in the School Auditorium on the Olympic Sport of Biathlon during the noon hour and again after school on Tuesday, November 21 for all students, parents and staff who are interested in learning about this sport. He will be featuring the new laser biathlon rifles that may soon be a game changer for both recreational and competitive participants. For more information, call Gloria Stang at 865-3266.

Thank you to the RM for cutting the overgrown parking lot & trail head at the Pineview Trails. They also keep the road access to this part of the Regional Park open all winter.👏🏼
