Morning tunes from #Istanbul. This man and his son are walking down my street playing the #accordion. In my stay here in Istanbul you see many men like him, peddaling their music to earn some money. I can not confirm that this man is a #refugee but odds are he is, like many others. It is a shame because I do not endorse a culture of begging but then again this man is trying to provide a service (music to my ears) in the only way he is able to. Refugee status is hard and unforgiving. A refugee is not able to legally work until he/she is given paperwork. To get this, hearings are sometimes years in the future, leaving many in limbo: Can not go back, but can not work and begin a proper life. There is an entire work force being made idle because of paperwork.
