September at last! This is the glorious, golden month that in JB's view is the very best for all our river species. Certainly it seems so down on the Wye. Our statistics compiled over 25 years of courses there show stunning barbel fishing in September. Furthermore, the river is generally low enough to wade, float fish, touch leger, bounce baits and enjoy all the approaches that are just a little out of the barrelling norm.
There are 2 places owing to cancellation, (availability at this point a never-known-before-scenarion) to enjoy the wonderful river at its very best alongside the man who put Wye barbel on the angling map all those (more than 20) years ago. Let's make history together this autumn.......seize your day!

John’s courses down on the River Wye, run over the last twenty years, have become legendary, iconic even. During that time he has led well over a hundred groups generally to resounding success. We guess that over the years at least five hundred anglers have come down & enjoyed John’s company, learned from his knowledge & wallowed in the splendour that is River Wye barbel fishing. You can trot, you can freeline, you can quivertip, you can stalk fish, you can catch barbel in almost any way imaginable along this beguiling, unique river. Of course, you’ll stay at the equally legendary Red Lion Hotel but as an extra plus, John also has several stretches of completely private river where you can guarantee being on your own in the most glorious of countryside.
Most events like this are judged by the amount of repeat business that they achieve. We are very proud & very humbled that so many of our customers have been with us literally from the very first course twenty-odd years ago. Many of these anglers have become firm friends, some travelling from Ireland & & even Canada each & every year to take part in an event that really is quite unique in angling.
