Positano and the Fornillo Beach with the ancient tower in the distance. 🌊🏚
The Fornillo Tower, also known as the Clavel Tower, is one of the most magical places in Positano with a fascinating history. In 1909, it was bought and restored by the intellectual Gilbert Clavel, a passionate Egyptologist and writer, during a boat trip from Capri, where he owned the villa "La Saida," he immediately fell in love with the tower when he saw it sailing past Positano. 💙🍋
He was drawn to the pentagonal shape of the ancient ruined tower, which reminded him of the mystique of the pyramids. Over the years, it became a gathering place for writers, painters, and musicians such as Depero, Picasso, Cocteau, and Marinetti. After Clavel's death, it passed to his brother and was later sold to Princess Santa Borghese Hercolani. 👸
Nowadays the tower is a Summer residence for wonderful stays. ✨
