Almost 10 Million people visit the Vatican museums each year. With an expected 39 million pilgrims to be in Rome this year, the Vatican museums will be the most visited museum in the world in 2025. Some haters will tell you to avoid Rome but if the treasures of the Vatican are in your plan, here’s a way to make it easy.
After-hours at the Vatican in the Sistine Chapel. No crowds. No selfie sticks. Just you, a small group, and the most obscene concentration of art and power on the planet. The Sistine Chapel, dead silent. Michelangelo’s ceiling above you, not fighting for your attention, just being what it is: a masterpiece that’s stopped time for centuries. This isn’t your average Vatican cattle drive. This is how you do it right.
Comment VaticanPM and we will send you a link to how to visit the Sistine chapel after hours and our online guidebook.

Long before Venice became a world power, it was little more than a desperate escape plan. In the 5th century, as Attila the Hun and his forces burned their way through northern Italy, the people of Aquileia had no choice but to flee. With nowhere else to go, they took to the water—finding refuge on a scattered group of islands in the Adriatic lagoon.
What began as a last resort turned into something remarkable. Over centuries, these fragile islands were reinforced, their marshy foundations stabilized, and an empire emerged from the water. By the 14th and 15th centuries, Venice had transformed from a refugee settlement into a dominant maritime republic, controlling trade routes, wealth, and diplomacy across the Mediterranean.
It wasn’t a city that was supposed to happen. It was a city that had to happen.

Blood & Secrets of Rome—history carved in stone, soaked in power. Walk Ponte Sant’Angelo, where the condemned took their last steps toward Castel Sant’Angelo, the Vatican’s fortress, prison, and escape hatch. Popes ruled, plotted, and sometimes ran for their lives here. Justice wasn’t always divine. Some were strangled in the dark, others burned at the stake. Today, tourists pass through, oblivious. Rome remembers.
The perfect stop between St. Peter’s Basilica and Piazza Navona—if you know what you’re looking at.

Imagine a time when seeing your reflection was a rare luxury—only in still water, dimly lit glass, or a polished pan. In Venice, mirror-making was such a closely guarded secret that artisans weren’t even allowed to leave the island. A monopoly on mirrors meant big money and big risks.
But here’s the twist… These mirror makers were the only people in Venice allowed to carry swords. 🗡️
📍 Dive into this wild history in our latest episode of French People Arr. Rude, where we uncover how Venice controlled the mirror industry, the truth behind black teeth, and more travel insights than anyone may need.

Attention anyone headed to Europe this year. We just updated our guidebook with the following info:
The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), initially set to launch this year, has been postponed to 2026. LOL, this is the third or fourth time it's been delayed.
This means travelers from visa-exempt countries, including the UK, have more time before needing this €7 authorization for EU visits.
But, the UK’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) remains scheduled for implementation. As of January 8, 2025, visitors from non-European countries like the USA and Canada will require an ETA to enter the UK. European travelers will need one starting April 2, 2025. The ETA costs £10 and is valid for two years, allowing multiple visits up to six months each.
With these changes on the horizon, it is crucial to stay updated on travel requirements to ensure smooth journeys.
Comment Travel Updates, and we’ll send you our updated guidebook article with all this info.

A two-thousand-year-old engineering flex that still stands tall. The Segovia Aqueduct—no mortar, no modern tools, just brute Roman ingenuity—has been defying gravity since the days of Trajan. Over 25,000 granite blocks stacked with surgical precision, delivering water to a city that still thrives under its shadow. A reminder that the Romans weren’t just conquerors; they were builders of the impossible.
Only an hour from Madrid, this UNESCO masterpiece is a day trip worth making. Walk under its towering arches, soak in the old-world charm of Segovia, and chase it all with some cochinillo asado (roast suckling pig) at a centuries-old tavern. Because if you’re going to admire Roman brilliance, you might as well do it with a belly full of tradition.

Naples is A city of chaos, beauty, and contradictions. Here, coffee isn’t just coffee. it’s ritual, defiance, a way of life. No syrupy nonsense, no oat milk, no pumpkin spice. Just thick, dark espresso served fast and with attitude. They serve all the traditional espresso drinks.
At @gambrinus_napoli , history seeps from the marble counters, where writers, revolutionaries, and dreamers have sipped the same sacred brew for over a century. You can ‘grab a coffee’ here—you stand or sit, you taste, you take a moment. And for that brief instant, everything makes sense.

Rome is where every stone has a story, and every church hides a masterpiece. Skip the crowds, elbowing their way through the Pantheon, and duck into Santa Maria Sopra Minerva.
Here, beneath celestial blue ceilings, you’ll find a Michelangelo sculpture that took two tries to get right, Bernini’s elegant elephant flipping the bird to his rivals, and the final resting place of St. Catherine of Siena (well, most of her, anyway)—art, history, and a little ecclesiastical drama—how we like it.
