Beautiful event on the coast of Marseilles, transferring the olympic torch from Greece to France. Look at those tall ships!!!!

Possibly my favorite city in France. Can't get enough of it!
Today it is La Chandeleur, which means it's pretty much the law to eat pancakes in France!
Who's in? 😋
In France it's a custom to toss the pancake holding the pan with your right hand while holding a coin in the left hand - it brings financial good luck apparently!

GWF scouted several European cities in November/December. Visited Strasbourg in Alsace, France, the “capital of Christmas”. Some of the most breathtaking building fronts to see.
A few still available in Paris
Wallace fountain at Le Bateau Lavoir, Paris. Did you know Wallace fountains have flowing water that you can drink from or fill up your drink bottle? They are dotted around Paris, and named after Sir Wallace who financed their installation. He wanted the homeless to have access to free healthy drinking water.
The 4 caryatids represent kindness, sobriety, simplicity and charity.

Our GWF group enjoyed a tour and wine tasting with lunch at Gambino Vini on Mt Etna. From local cheeses to local sausage to local wines.... Gambino sells its award-winning wines in our state at local liquor stores.
My GWF group enjoyed a hike up to one of Mt Etna's craters. A few travelers pictured here conversing with our vulcanological guide Nikos (in bright green jacket). A memorable excursion!
For those of you who were in Cefalù with us this spring, look at this wonderful aerial view of the town.

In May, my GWF group spent 3 days in Taormina, Sicily, an ancient town made famous by Greeks and later Romans, followed by anyone who enjoys a breathtaking view of the Meditarranean, Mount Etna (hiding behind clouds that day) and the vicinity of amazing beaches. We are seen at the Greco-Roman Theater here. Taormina is a favorite of many if not all travelers to Sicily.

A beautiful Medieval-style village in Sicily is Erice (AY-ree-tchay), perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the western and northern Sicilian coast. Our group spent part of the day at a Sicilian cookie workshop and lunch, then a couple of hours exploring this village. The panoramic views are astounding!
