Lesley Anne Brown, author of Finding Carla is really excited to be attending the Jersey International Motoring Festival this year with Scenic Car Tours. She says, “I had a fabulous time at the inaugural Isle of Man Festival of Motoring and know that Scenic Car Tours will have arranged another great trip for us on our first visit to the Channel Islands.”

Lesley will, once again, be with her husband, Dave, and in-laws Shirley and Paul Sharman. They were constantly seen (and heard) driving around the Isle of Man in their distinctive hot rods. The Browns’ Model A Phaeton was imported from the USA, where they had already driven 32000 miles across 22 states. Their experiences and adventures formed the basis for her novel.

“Finding Carla is the story of a woman who, having fallen out with all of her family, embarks on a solo trip across the USA on Route 66 in a 1960 convertible Corvette. I’ve received lots of positive feedback from readers of both sexes, who enjoyed Carla’s American adventures and are looking forward to the sequel.”

Following a visit to the Parador de Limpias this Morning we have just boarded our flight back to London from Bilbao. Hopefully Oliver, Katie & Eloise will be much better placed now to answer all of your questions relating to our tours to Northern Spain & Portugal.

After 2400 kilometres we are nearing the end of our marathon recce of Spain & Portugal. Tonight we are staying in the beautiful village of Santillana de Mar where we use the 17th century Parador Gil Blas. Tomorrow we’ll complete our journey with a visit to the Parador de Limpias before catching an afternoon flight back to London Gatwick.

We travelled from Porto and the Wine Experience Hotel to Benavente and then on to the Parador Cervera de Pisuerga where we are staying tonight. Another beautiful hotel, large rooms and amazing views.

Eloise & Katie joined us yesterday in Porto where we enjoyed and inspection visit for one of the river cruise ships we use on the Douro River. Then we had some down time in the city centre.

Oliver & I have just arrived at the beautiful Monverde Wine Experience Hotel in Amarante, near Porto. This hotels is located amongst the vineyards in an idyllic setting with rooms facing the vines!! There’s a wonderful spa and health facility and theres also restaurant and bar. Needless to say this is a BIG favourite with our guest on our tours to Portugal!

Benavente in Spain to Longroiva in Portugal. Today we drove the route illustrated in our Picos & Portugal tour road book. We enjoyed some wonderful scenery and amazing drives. Tonight we are staying at the excellent Longroiva Rural Hotel. Here are a few images from today.
