Denver to Istanbul direct flights started today! Probably not super exciting news for most people, but for me, as an international ski tour operator running trips to central asia, this is big news!

Turkish Airlines began operating direct flights from Denver to Istanbul today. That means if I want to fly to Uzbekistan or Kygyzstan, now it's only 2 flights and that makes it really easy. I can fly straight to Istanbul, have a little stop over in Istanbul if I want (Turkish offer a free stop over in Istanbul that is really nice) and then hop on another flight to get to Tashkent or Bishkek. That's really convenient as I used to have to take 3 or 4 flights.

I'm also looking at starting a Turkey ski program in the near future so this makes it really easy to go there. The service will be 3 flights per week initially (Tue, Thu, Fri) but starting July 9th, they will add a 4th flight (Sun). Hopefully if the service is popular, they can add more days. 400cm (157 inches) of new snow in the next 12 days in the current forecast for Nevados de Chillán! I still have a couple of rooms on hold for session 2 (Aug 22nd - Sep 1st) if you want to go. Looks like this season is shaping to be one for the books.....

Wow! Nevados de Chillán is looking great! Thanks kindly for Manuel Olivares Bruna for sending me these photos of the resort from the last couple of days. He's already been up there ski touring and says conditions are like August already. There is approximately 70cm's of settled snow at the Novicios beginner area and then 120cm's of settled snow at the top of the Otto chair, with more snow up higher and in sheltered areas. Bring on August!
