What an incredibly busy and fulfilling year 2024 has been for Zamag! Our groups have explored the breathtaking landscapes of Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda experiencing the very best of what these regions have to offer.

This year, the Zamag team also ventured further afield with a trip to India, a memorable Africa Eden experience in Namibia, and the ATOI conference in Egypt. These journeys allowed us to meet even more clients and agents, setting the stage for exciting collaborations in 2025.

We’re thrilled to continue working with both new and long-standing partners as we craft bespoke safaris and agricultural tours for clients from around the world.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us this year, including our incredible clients and agents from around the world. We can't wait to see what 2025 has in store for us.

Rains Have Finally Arrived in Zambia!

After a long, harsh dry season, the first rains have finally touched down, bringing relief to the bush and wildlife across Zambia. The landscape is transforming, with fresh greenery emerging and wildlife enjoying the cooling rains.

While the herbivores are rejoicing, it’s been a very different story for the predators. The dry season may be tough on prey, but for predators, it’s prime hunting time when animals are forced to gather near water sources. Now, with the rains here, life in the bush begins to shift once again.

A Rare and Lucky Encounter! 🐾

Meet the pangolin – a shy, armor-clad marvel and one of the world’s most unique mammals. The word "pangolin" comes from the Malay word "penggulung," meaning "roller." When startled, a pangolin curls into a tight ball, relying on its tough scales for protection. Tragically, these scales, made of keratin like our fingernails, are also why pangolins are the most trafficked mammals on Earth.

Stephen O'Connell, while traveling with Zamag and staying at Anabezi Camp, was incredibly lucky to capture this rare sighting of a pangolin in Lower Zambezi National Park. Spotting a pangolin in the wild is as rare as winning the lottery in safari terms – many seasoned guides have gone their entire careers without seeing one. This special encounter is a powerful reminder of the urgent need to protect these vulnerable creatures.

Did You Know?

There are eight species of pangolin worldwide – four in Africa and four in Asia.
All species are under threat, with three now critically endangered due to poaching and illegal wildlife trade.
Over one million pangolins have been taken from the wild in the past decade.
