Have you ever seen a manatee up close? These gentle giants can be found swimming in the warm, crystal-clear waters and canals of the Florida Keys. Not only are they fascinating to watch, but they also play a vital role in our ecosystem. Did you know that manatees are known as the 'gardeners of the sea' because they graze on seagrasses, keeping them short and healthy? Let's work together to protect these amazing creatures and their habitat. 🐠🌊🌴"

We got lucky with the hurricane. All is well here in Islamorada either the crew, boat, and shop.
Thinking of all our friends on the west coast of Florida. Hope everyone is safe and accounted for.

BAHIA HONDA STATE PARK (middle keys)
Bahia Honda has clear waters, refreshing sea breezes and magnificent sunsets. Both beaches on the Atlantic and bay side are rather shallow which makes it a great place for all, but especially kids for snorkeling and/or wading.
Kayaks and snorkeling gear can be rented, and boat trips to the reef for snorkeling excursions are available.
Check out the section of the Henry Flagler railroad bridge built in the early 1900s. You can walk up to it and see beautiful views of both the bay and the Atlantic side.
If you are planning on visiting, I suggest reading the "good to know before you go" information on their website.

ISLAMORADA SANDBAR:
offshore around Mile Marker 84 on the Atlantic Ocean side, just off the Postcard Inn and Holiday Isles Marina. Very popular in the summer months, especially on holiday weekends, you will see hundreds of boats gather to create a huge party on the water. Because the water is shallow on the sandbar, you will see lounge chairs, barbecue grills, picnic table, umbrellas, all submersed in the water. The sandbar is a great spot for all ages, and even welcomes our four legged friends.
One of Islamorada’s best treasures, the sandbar is only accessible by water. Transportation is by boats, wave runners, kayaks, and paddleboards. There are companies that specialize in taking your group to the biggest party on water.

Key West is a lovely renovation with a spiderweb of salt spalling as its foundation. Beneath the Key West mystique of our white picket fences, manicured lots, art galleries, restaurants, theater venues, water sports and walking tours lies a particularly ugly truth. Can real people live in Key West?

Port Pine Heights on Big Pine Key is one of many subdivisions where you can see firy sunsets over the bay, wildlife such as Key deer, turtles, herons, eagles (yes. eagles) and more. These neighborhoods are riddled with nature trails. A nature trail highlight is at Blue Hole which is also located on Big Pine Key.

This was filmed at the Breezy Pines RV park on Big Pine Key. I found it so unique these two were hanging out together. I watched them for about 20 minutes. The deer was meandering around the park snacking and the Heron followed close behind. The Heron seemed to have a peculiar interest in the deer but the deer seemed a bit indifferent. Big Pine Key is a refuge for the Key deer which are a smaller than normal deer and only found in the Florida Keys. The Great White Heron National Wildlife refuge is located on Cudjoe Key which is not too far from Big Pine Key. #allaboutthefloridakeys #floridakeys #keydeer #Bigpinekey #nationalkeydeerrefuge #greatwhiteheronnationalwildliferefuge #cudjoekey
Islamorada bird rookery... Rookeries are large, clustered gregarious nesting colonies. In the rookery, each nest is typically independent, with parent birds caring for only their nestlings and generally disregarding the behavior of other nearby nests, adults, or chicks.

One of my favorite things about Theater of the Sea is that they differ from a lot of marine mammal shows by making available one-on-one special interactions with one of their amazing sea life critters. These interactions can include a dolphin, stingray, shark, sea lion and/or turtle (or other). The interactions vary and cost more than the general admission but are well worth it! Among two of the interactions available are swimming or painting with a dolphin. At the end of this one minute video clip you will see my special needs niece (with her mother helping) painting with Krystle the dolphin. She loved this and it was really a neat experience for her! The following verbiage is directly from the Theater of the Sea website (link below). Theater of the Sea offers dolphin, sea lion, and parrot shows, a bottomless boat ride, a lagoon-side beach, as well as a fish and reptile tour with tropical fish, sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, alligators, and crocodiles. Shows are up close and personal and guest participation is encouraged. One of the shows is always taking place; guests join the one that is in progress when they arrive and should plan to spend 2 to 3 hours in the park. Theater of the Sea is home to many animals that have been rescued, rehabilitated, and deemed non-releasable for a variety of reasons. This includes dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, crocodilians and raptors. These animals often require specialized long-term care and treatment that is funded through patronage alone. Each rescued animal has a special story and serves an important role in educating the public about the many natural and human-imposed threats to their wild counterparts. https://theaterofthesea.com/attractions/general-admission/ #allaboutthefloridakeys theater_ofthe_sea #floridakeys #islamorada #fk #fl #islamoradatimes #floridaexplored #conchlife #floridakeyslife #travelflorida #floridatravel #thefloridakeys #thekeys #floridalife #visitfl #lovefl #exploreflorida #thingstodoinflorida
NEW ADDITION COMING TO ROBERT IS HERE FRUIT STAND & FARM (see AATFK YouTube video for details in this regard from Robert himself)
For more information about new addition coming to the Robert is Here Fruit Stand and Farm please see following link: https://youtu.be/mrqxIZrtviM The following verbiage has been taken from the "Robert is Here" website. Robert Is Here is a family-owned and operated fruit stand in Homestead, Florida. We specialize in Rare & Exotic fruits and vegetables, mostly grown right here on our farms. Although the location started off as a literal Fruit Stand located on the side of the road, it has grown into a complete tourist destination equipped with an Animal Farm, Play Area and picnic tables. We even have live music on the weekends and holidays! Robert has also teamed up with author Cesar Becerra to share his story in Robert Is Here: Looking East for a Lifetime, which can be purchased by clicking this link. It gives amazing insight into the start of the operation and the many bumps and bruises obtained along the way. We are proud to be a founding member of the Florida Agritourism Association, which helps people recognize the value that farms and other agricultural areas provide to the tourism and the economy. Operating Hours: We are open from 8am until 7pm. We are closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
