How to Balance a Ceiling Fan
Two common questions that we hear often are "how can I fix my wobbling fan?", and "why is my fan wobbling?". From something that might have hit and bend the blade arms to simply a loose screw, many things can cause a fan to wobble. Let us share with you a few pointers on this inconvenient issue.
Fans use blade sets and blade arms that are weighed and calibrated in matched sets. So for starters, NEVER MIX BLADE ARM SETS and NEVER MIX BLADE SETS. If by mistake you read this too late, you may have make your fan very hard to balanced. That aside, an unbalanced fan can also be a sign of something loose like a set screw or a hanger that is not as tight as it should be. It can also be the fact that there is a bent or loose blade arm. So if your fan is wobbling don't panic. Here we give you few pointers that hopefully could fix the issue:
1) Check out any loose screws (the hanger, the electrical box or any loose or bent blade arms.)
2) If everything checks out and the fan is still wobbling, then it is time to balance your fan. Fans commonly come with a balance kit in case this happens, however some intructions are tricky to follow, so we do recommend to be patient.
3) The balance kit should have come with instructions and some weights which are meant to calibrate the blades to rotate homogeneously.Read and follow the instructions carefully. *It is important to remember not to adhere any of t hese weights permanetly to the blades since you might have to try on everyblade until you find the best option for your fan.
