April is both the Month of the Military Child and Autism Awareness Month. I am the proud Mom of two amazing military kids and the proud Aunt, Friend and Travel Advisor to many with ASD.

My Personal Top 3️⃣ Vacation Rules

1. The number of nights you stay should be at least the same number of hours it takes to travel to a destination. For example, if it takes 6 hrs to fly there, you must stay at least 6 Nights ✈️

2. Don’t eat anywhere you can eat at home. Try new restaurants, especially local. The only exception is that my kids have a weird thing about trying McDonalds in different countries (ew) so I let them do it 🍔

3. Everyone chooses at least one activity. No matter what type of trip we’re taking, each member of our family gets to choose one ideal activity and we all have to participate 🎨

⁉️Did you know that Disneyland Resort has several attractions that are exclusive to their parks? Besides being incredibly nostalgic because of Walt's influence, these attractions make the experience of visiting the CA parks unique and truly special.

🎡These can only be found in California Adventure:

Avengers Campus- this is a whole "land" built around Marvel themes. Here you can find exclusive character meets, interactive shows, themed restaurants, and two attractions: Web Slingers and Guardians of the Galaxy Mission breakout (rethemed Tower of Terror)

Cars Land- This is by Far one of my favorite things about California Adventure! The lights at night especially make this so realistic. This land literally puts you right in the middle of Radiator Springs and you will find several kid friendly attractions from Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi's Rollickin Roadsters, and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Plus, you can meet some of your favorite cars!

Pixar Pier- Yes, all things Pixar can be found here! From themed restaurants to rides, and shows, this is your place if you love Pixar Movies, plus all the attractions found here are unique to California including Incredicoaster (my fave), Inside Out themed rides for the littles, and the Iconic Pixar Pal Around (mickey ferris wheel)

San Fransokyo Square- While this is only a food destination, it's themed to make you feel like you're part of Big Hero 6 and you can eat some unique foods with a Japanese twist and even meet Baymax!

Other attractions around the park which are completely exclusive to CA- Monsters Inc, Mike and Sulley to the rescue. It's an actual adorable ride vs Laugh Floor in WDW! Paradise Gardens Park which has several "carnival like" rides including the Goofy's Sky School (classic mousetrap coaster)

🎟️These are Disneyland Park Exclusives:

Mickey's Toontown- this cute little town is supposed to be where Mickey and friends live! Here you can stroll through their neighborhood, meet some friends, and even ride some unique attractions including Roger Rabbit's Car toon spin!

In Fantasyland, you'll find several classic exclusives including Mr Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White's Enchanted Wish, Pinnochio's Daring Journey, Alice in Wonderland, Storybook Canals, Matterhorn and even a walk through Sleepy Beauty's castle (boy, do I wish we could do this in Cinderella's)

Tomorrowland feels very familiar with a lot of the same attractions, but there is one attraction you can only find there, Finding Nemo's Submarine Voyage! This ride takes you underwater for a unique look at Nemo and his friends.

Other attractions only found in Disneyland include Indian Jones Adventure and the Disneyland Railroad!

🎠Now there are also a few attractions that can be found at both Disneyland and Disney World, BUT they will have some special differences in the experience. Those include: Pirates of the Caribbean, It's a Small World, Space Mountain (and sometimes even Hyperspace Mountain) and Soarin! (over California not over the World)

🎢And finally, because Disneyland Resort only has two parks vs the 4 found in WDW, you might find some of your favorite WDW attractions in different locations (hint- Star Tours is in Tomorrowland).

I love that our family can have a completely different parks vacation on one coast vs the other! ✈️

🌭Oh and guess what, the shows and lots of restaurants are different too!

💥Bonus- Disneyland Resort does not require any other mode of transportation to get around except your feet, but it's still fun to ride the monorail!

California Adventure hosts an annual Food and Wine Festival each spring. This is similar to Epcot's but on a much smaller scale. They offer several kiosks with a variety of food and drinks, a few food and drink seminars with local chefs, breweries and mixologists, and weekend entertainment. We had a great time sampling local favorites.
