One Design Office (ODO) is a multidisciplinary design firm specialising in the fields of Architecture, Product Design, and Branding.
Our design approach is to intentionally cross-pollinate between these fields, giving us the capability to facilitate the creative process from a holistic perspective. We have recently completed our project for CHL (community Housing Limited) and Homes Vic.
The units are designed to be light filled, and breathable, maximising internal amenity for our residents. The units are also beautifully furnished by MORC interiors!
We are solving the housing crisis and ensuring it is done to be best standard possible!

“Reimagining where we live” challenged design teams to innovate aged care facilities by testing the new National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines.
Our team assembled a design that prioritized inclusivity and optimization for dementia care through adaptive reuse of existing buildings.
By repurposing structures and incorporating dementia-friendly design, we utilised architecture to facilitate way finding and create a more supportive environment for aged care residents.
As we gear up for our return to the No Vacancy Expo this September, we reflect on the success of last year's event. The vision for 1 Hotel is now close to becoming a reality, and we are excited to share the progress.

We recently completed a webinar with the Living Futures Institute of Australia, sharing our experience on achieving a Biophilia workplace for Cancer Council Victoria.
It is endearing to know that our work and design thinking is leading the charge in Biophilia approaches in workplaces. We hope to inspire and encourage the incorporation of these design principles in upcoming built environment projects.

July secured their first storefront opportunity in the fashion capital, Chadstone Shopping Centre. ODO were approached to design a store that evoked memories of nostalgia.
Employing sepia tonalities, forms and materials were assembled to create an atmospheric outcome that transports the viewer into a space of calm and wonder.
We are so excited to see the progress of the 1 Hotel project, a true labor of passion for our team.
The finish line is in sight, and we can’t wait to share the final stages with you.

“Designed to echo the fabric of its streetscape in Thornbury, the same-named home sits nestled in the north of Melbourne. The home comes together as a combination of concrete, timber and glass elements to construct a presence of anticipation and privacy. A balance of security and openness was key in creating a home that would accommodate a growing family. Through expressing contrast between materiality and how shapes interact, One Design Office creates a home of varying moments and functions.“

Project: Prada Fondazione | Milan
Architect: OMA
Located in Largo Isarco, South Milan, this former distillery from the 1910s spans 19,000 m², with 11,000 m² dedicated to exhibitions.
The compound includes seven historic structures and three new ones: Podium, Cinema, and Torre. Podium features versatile gallery spaces, Cinema hosts a permanent program of screenings and events, and Torre, a 60-meter high white concrete building, is a new Milan landmark.
The Torre houses "Atlas," a permanent exhibition showcasing renowned artists like Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst.

Creating CCV HQ was all about understanding the diverse needs of the Cancer Council Vic team.
We designed unique social spaces that balance privacy and communal areas, ensuring a seamless flow throughout.
Whether it’s a formal meeting or an informal catch-up, the different spaces provide the perfect environment for any occasion.
Eltham College, renowned for its embrace of new technology and student well-being, engaged ODO to create an experimental space fostering design thinking, exploration, and collaboration.
The resulting space offers students diverse educational experiences: from culinary science and recipe trials to 3D printing and prototype testing in the purpose-built workshop. Flexible amphitheatre pods host events and creative discussions, while private booths provide intimate study areas.
By experimenting with materials, technology, and adaptive space use, ODO crafted a unique hub that enhances the creative community at Eltham College.
We are delighted to reveal our work with Osborne Primary School, where we've meticulously designed a central structure to unify existing portable classrooms as one.
This hub will serve as a central location, seamlessly connecting all the rooms and fostering a cohesive and dynamic learning environment.

“The art museum stands in the light of Lake Constance. It is made of glass and steel and a cast concrete stone mass which endows the interior of the building with texture and spatial composition.
From the outside, the building looks like a lamp. It absorbs the changing light of the sky, the haze of the lake, it reflects light and colour and gives an intimation of its inner life according to the angle of vision, the daylight and the weather."

Complete with a full-height three-way mirror, whether preparing for the day ahead or winding down in the evening, the design of these spaces enhances the overall sense of well-being.

Day 1 highlights. We got to visit 3 sites that continues to layer on the city's history. Site 1: Barbican city. At the time of completion, the futuristic city was rejected by the locals but is now a fine example of an urban community. The city within a city is highly volumetric and layeres with nature. Site 2: An adaptive reuse project designed by @officialheatherwickstudio. Coal drop yard has played an integral role in the reactivation of Kings Cross. The pricent now houses a myriad of functions and business to create a community centre. Site 3: Masterfully delivered by a Malaysian consortium led by @spsetiabhd and integrating architects @wilkinsoneyre @rva_ny @officialnormanfoster @big_builds @frankgehry_official , the ambitious precinct opened about 12 months ago to the public. How the power plant has been preserved and repurposed is admirable. The integration of residential communities creates a strong sense of place. Summary, we continue to believe that city design can celebrate enduring typologies by embracing adaptive reuse.
