Yesterday was a wonderful day 🤩. We saw 4 species of cetaceans along our whale watching tours, such as Pilot whales, Bottlenose dolphins 🐬, Atlantic Spotted dolphins 🐬 and Common dolphins 🐬.
We also noticed that some Cory’s shearwater 🐦 are back from their long migration and the currents brought us some bright and colorful Portuguese man of war 🪼🐟
It was nice to be back on the ocean 🌊.

In these past days the Bottlenose #dolphins 🐬and the Atlantic Spotted dolphins 🐬 had a blast 💥 in the waves 🌊 and they really putted on a show 🥹. We LOVE ❤️ to see them #happy and free.
Dolphins 🐬 have many different reasons to jump/breach: having fun, cleaning their skin, communicating, swimming away etc.
The reason will depends a lot of what is going on around them.
Knowing their behavior is very interesting and it’s helping us to understand them better 🐬💕.

During our whale watching tours many of you wonder if we have sharks 🦈 in Tenerife and the answer is yes 🙌🏻. This is a very young #Hammerhead #shark 🦈 that was swimming near our boat not too far from the coast.
It was a very exciting moment for everyone on board because this is a very rare encounter. Sharks are very shy despite their reputation.
As apex predators, they play an important role in the #ecosystem by keeping the food chain in balance and serving as indicators for ocean health 🫶🏼

Whale watching in Tenerife with Whale Watch Tenerife is one of the best activities.
We go out every day from Puerto Colon Marina with our rib boat and our #biologist team looking for great encounters with the beautiful #wildlife of the #island.
Beside observing the different resident pods of Pilot whales and Bottlenose #dolphins that live here all year around, sometimes we are lucky to find and enjoy some migratory #species such as False Killer whales (Pseudorca crassidens).
Despite the fact that they are called whales, False killer whales are large members of the #dolphin #family. It’s the third largest dolphin in the ocean after the Killer whales and Pilot whales, with 4,5 to 6 m in length and a maximum weight of 2 tons.
False killer #whales are social animals found globally in all tropical and subtropical oceans and generally in deep offshore waters. The false killer whale’s entire body is black or dark gray, although lighter areas may occur ventrally (on its underside) between the flippers or on the sides of the head.
False killer whales mostly eat fish and squid but sometimes they go for other marine #mammals, such as smaller dolphins.
We love to see them during our whale watching tours as they love to swim next to the bow of the boat, playing and surfing among the waves.
