Diving Eagle Rock, Raja Ampat
Eagle Rock is a famous spot to anyone doing their research into Raja Ampat, it has a pretty reliable Manta cleaning station over a small reef. Oceanic manta rays loop around and swoop over this small coral section to be cleaned by the small fish and wrasse. Simply kneel down next to the cleaning station and wait! Close encounters with Mantas of this size are rare so make the most of this opportunity whilst aboard the Amandira.
Sailing in Komodo
Wether your sailing at sunset or navigating the islands of Komodo during the day, the beautiful landscape is complemented but the sight of the Amadira boat and its traditional Indonesian design, you feel like one of the early explorers!
One of the rarest animal in the ocean and we spotted it during a dive with Amandira !
Manta sunset
Shot in the early evening this young manta ray passed by near the surface swimming majestically ‘through’ the sunset, another unforgettable diving moment whilst diving with Amandira in Komodo.
Another reef full of fish, Cape Cri is home to sharks, Barracudas, sweet lips, beautiful sections of both hard and soft corals and schooling fish like the Trevalley and Jack fish. You will not be able to count how many different fish you can see!
Melissa’s Garden
The reefs in Raja Ampat are full of fish and very healthy. Melissa’s Garden might not have any of the ‘big’ characters you might find at other sites, but the quality of reef and the amount of small fish inside and around is incredible.
Learning scuba with Amandira
After back rolling from our dingy the crew from the Amandira will find a nice sandy spot for you to learn the needed skills for the full range of diving courses. This day the teacher and student were lucky to be visited by an inquisitive young manta ray! After watching him for a while he left so its time to explore the healthy reef nearby…
Dolphins
Even when travelling between spots on your tour aboard the Amandira keep an eye on the water! schools of dolphins can be found, even the odd whale passing by, or an eagle ray jumping out. The waters here are full, and dolphins always enjoy playing at the front of a moving boat!
Explore local islands
During your trip on the Amandira you will have many opportunities to explore the surrounding islands, you can ask to be dropped off by the dingy on a secluded beach, or make your own way there with the Amanda’s private kayaks and paddle boards.
Full sail at sunset
When the Amandira has all its sails up it can look like a pirate ship of Indonesia. Here she is sailing on beautiful flat seas at sunset in Komodo. Have a closer look and you even see one of the crew making his way down the ladder.
Wayag
Wayag is the area that is normally featured when looking at photographs of Raja Ampat, an amazing collection of tiny islands surrounded by beautifully coloured waters and beaches. During your stay on the Amandira you can enjoy a dingy ride around the small islands whilst the main boat stays moored right in the middle of the islands. A hike to one of the best views in the world can also be on the agenda!
After a long day of diving, or the other activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, trekking and exploring (or just relaxing!) you can sit back and enjoy a beautiful sunset. There is a beauty to a moving sunset whilst aboard a boat. These shots are from Komodo, the crew and guests enjoying the orange drenched scenery as the Amandira makes its way to the next mooring spot.
Here is a lucky ‘new’ diver watching a turtle in one of the shallow reefs of Komodo. A truly memorable experience to any new diver (and old!).
Beautiful Raja Ampat
During your trip sailing around the islands of Raja Ampat the Amandira will be moored within some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Indonesia if not the world.
You can explore the surrounding islands by dingy, kayak, paddle board, snorkelling and scuba diving.
Diving Castle Rock, Komodo
This is one of the highlight dives of Komodo. Castle rock can be enjoyed most times of the day. Sometimes with current you can be lucky to see Manta Rays flying past. This video was at slack tide, but still a beautiful and packed reef with large schools of batfish, reef sharks swimming through the fusiliers with large travellies circling the busier areas. A ‘must dive’ site during your trip aboard the Amandira in Komodo.
Sails up!
When the winds are right, the Amandira puts up its multiple sails so you enjoy the authentic feeling of sailing through the waters of Indonesia. Watching the crew set up the sails is always fun, and the sight of the Amandira with ‘full sail’ is a beautiful thing.
