The markets and the public had a grey son of Tapit plugged for victory in the G.1 Arkansas Derby but not the one they had expected. All eyes were on masterful Rebel Stakes winner Cupid but it wasn’t Bob Baffert’s c**t that finished first past the post; it was the other one, Steve Asmussen’s Creator.…

Massive weekend with an impressive 27 Group or Grade 1 races run over the past week. A dozen on the flat, a further dozen over jumps and a quartet in the harness division.

A stirring rally by Exaggerator in the closing stages of the race dispelled any doubts trainer Keith Desormeaux had after the c**t’s disappointing third in the San Felipe Stakes a month ago.

Not to be outdone, its a huge weekend coming up for the Kentucky Oaks with Songbird and Cathryn Sophia making their final appearances before Churchill Downs.

The Kentucky Oaks is not expected to be as exciting as the Kentucky Derby this year since one horse, who many say is the best three year old in the country, will be sticking to the Oaks. It is impossible to ignore the class Songbird exhibits when she races. The undefeated two year-old champion has n…

Biggest stop on the Road to the Kentucky Derby this weekend in the Blue Grass, Wood Memorial, and Santa Anita Derby.

Undefeated Shagaf has his final tune up, as does Bob Baffert's hope this year Mor Spirit, as well as Danzing Candy, Exaggerator, Zulu, and Outwork among others.

This weekend is viewed by many as the most important on the Road to the Kentucky Derby with some final preps being run at Santa Anita, Keeneland and Aqueduct. The first one set to go off at 5:30 EST is the Wood Memorial. Attracting most of the attention is Shadwell’s undefeated Bernardini c**t, Sh…

Australian wonder mare Winx's season is ending sooner than planned.

On a nine-race win streak, she will be skipping the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick after a hard run in the Doncaster last week. She gets a break, and her future plans are not known just yet.

Trainer Chris Waller has revealed that wonder-mare Winx will not be taking in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick next Saturday and thus putting on hold her bid to become just the seventh horse in Australian history to win ten straight stakes races. She put in a remarkable performance to w…

Donegal Racing's Keen Ice has moved from the Dale Romans barn and will be joining Todd Pletcher for the rest of his 2016 campaign.

Keen Ice, best known for dominating American Pharoah in last year’s G.1 Travers Stakes, has been moved from Dale Romans’ yard and will take up residence with Todd Pletcher. After announcing his retirement from racing earlier this week, Australian trainer Peter Moody made his final career start a winning one in the G1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley with his six year old gelding Flamberge.

Peter Moody is best known as the trainer of the undefeated star Black Caviar.

Anyone else might call it a fairy-tale ending but Peter Moody would probably describe it differently. On the day top Australian trainer takes early retirement following a long battle with the authorities concerning the accidental administration of cobalt, Flamberge made it back-to-back Gr.1 victorie…
