Two of my private tour groups get to stay here this summer! A "rorbu" is a traditional Norwegian seasonal cabin used by fisherfolk, normally located in a fishing village. The buildings are constructed on land, but with the one end on poles in the water, allowing easy access to vessels.

Røros at Christmas time is a magical place. Who wants to experience it? Cozy cafes, sleigh rides through the city, beautiful arts and crafts, woolen blankets, etc. We stayed at a spa hotel with a pool big enough for laps in the morning or sauna. PM me if you'd like to experience this special town.

Have you ever toured the Oleana sweater factory? A visit is a feast for the eyes and soul: "Oleana was founded in 1992 as a reaction to other textile factories in Norway outsourcing their production abroad. Our protest against mass manufacturing and cheap labor made us who we are today - determined to show that it is possible to create quality knitwear locally, in good working conditions, and always with a clear mission on reducing our carbon footprint."

7 a.m. private sauna in Oslo, with a view of the The Norwegian Opera & Ballet and The Munch Museum. Then had a private backstage tour of the Opera. From inside the Opera building we could see our floating saunas. Such an adventurous family! It’s been a joy to be their guide.

Safari on the Naeroyfjord, the most beautiful and wildest arm of the Sognefjord. To be IN the water, on a rib boat...priceless. Followed by dinner and overnight at the Stalheim Hotel. There was a table at dinner reserved for bus drives and guides. That wasn't for us; we sat with the family. Much better.

Starting a tour tomorrow with a family group of just under 20 people. Am SO looking forward to this tour: Stavanger Gladmat festival, hike up Pulpit Rock, lunchtime concert at Grieg's Troldhaugen, overnight at beautiful hotels, like Ullensvang in Lofthus and the famous Stalheim hotel, driving through breathtaking countryside to my homestead overlooking Randsfjorden, Nordenga, and then on to the exciting city of Oslo. You can imagine the many details that will take place between these highlights.... It promises to be a most memorable trip! I can help you plan your trip to Norway, too. My first tour post pandemic was a lovely private tour. This person wanted to experience Norway in the winter--so I introduced her to snowshoeing (becoming more popular here), walked around Mai Haugen and the Lillehammer area, and she took a swing at splitting wood. We visited a Norwegian classroom, a woman who spins her own wool into yarn and knits stunning sweaters, and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Oslo (winter at Vigeland Park is quiet and special). Water is low on Randsfjorden, so we were able to take a walk where we usually need a boat.

Because the water level is at an all time low, we were able to walk to King Island and the surrounding smaller islands, just outside of Brandbu, about 15 min...
