Have you ever seen one of these?

In Italy there are many public drinking fountains (fontanelle) with free, fresh water. Called nasoni, most are designed as a column with a thin protruding nose-like spout midway up the post. Some are decorated with intricate carvings that tourists often mistake for a monument or work of art.

The August Calendar - in the Salone dei Mesi (Room of the Months) one of the most significant 15thc fresco cycles in Italy. From the main hall of the Palazzo Schifanoia , the Renaissance Palace of the Este family in Ferrara. "Schifanoia" comes from "schifare la noia" meaning to "escape from boredom". The palazzo was used as a place of leisure, a retreat where the ducal court could relax and enjoy nature and other courtly diversions.

The rooms were decorated with elaborate gilted frescoes. This detail shows the zodiac sign Virgo. A hallmark site in Ferrara and one of our favorite places in Italy.

The Bosco Verticale / Vertical Forest high-rise complex in Milan, Italy. The plant life, which is said to equal 3 hectares of forests (20,000 sq m), not only moderates the temperature in summer and winter but also converts as much as 30 tonnes of CO2 each year. On top of that, it filters out dust particles, protects the residents from noise pollution and creates a microhabitat for insects and birds.

I’m a big fan of food writing. The backstory behind what, why and how food is eaten is both an interest and a passion. This may have to do with my travels in Italy with our Italian family and friends where food is a national treasure. It definitely has to do with childhood memories of family gathe...

A bistecca alla Fiorentina aka the Tuscan T-Bone, is a rite of passage for the taste traveler in Italy. La Fiorentina is produced from the meat of one of the oldest breeds of cattle, the Chianina.
I have seen the Chianina grazing in pastures outside the town of Citta di Castello in Umbria and the hillsides of Tuscany near Abazzia San Antimo. They are impressive both in stature (over 6 feet tall) and in color (light pale to snow white).

Like minded taste travelers -an invitation to join our group based on the convivial ideas of Michael Gelb's book "Wine Drinking for Inspired Thinking", we believe that wine has much to offer for those who take the time to think into the bottle. The purpose of this group is to encourage conviviality and unlock our creativity guided by the power of wine; the hidden codex that links history, culture, climate, geography and culinary conviviality in a glass to uncork a memorable experience or “aha” moment. In "the animated spirit of the get-togethers at the Medici Palazzo, the creativity around Thomas Jefferson’s dinner table, the joie de vivre, la dolce vita” of Leonardo's thinking and Medici drinking.

A mother is always the beginning. She is how things begin.” —Unknown

The famous Renaissance artist Botticelli was born in Florence when his mother was 40 years old. He was nicknamed Botticelli “little barrels” by his family. A special fondness for his mother must have inspired him to create many of the paintings of women and mothers for which he is well known. https://cositutti.wordpress.com/2024/04/13/the-maternal-muses-of-italy/
