PRIMEIRO SENTIMENTO

Em uma das nossas caixinhas de pergunta nos perguntaram qual foi o primeiro sentimento ao chegar para morar aqui na ilha dos deuses. A resposta ? Não tínhamos dúvida: era de liberdade. Bem clichê não é mesmo ? Afinal, é lógico (pra todo mundo) que o sentimento seria esse. Mas…ao viver tudo que estamos vivendo não seria justo colocar essa tal liberdade em um lugar tão lógico, racional e comum.

A liberdade que pensávamos existir quando saímos do Brasil é ilusória para nós que sempre tivemos essa sede. A verdade é que ao mesmo tempo que ela é mais contagiante e encantadora ela também é mais desafiadora e contestadora.

Todos os dias ela vai te perguntar se você quer estar com ela. Naquele imprevisto que aparece sem bater na porta, naquela ansiedade que você nem sabia que existia e na saudade de quem tá longe.

Ela te obriga a se olhar no espelho e a se despir dos medos e inseguranças. Comprova que tá tudo bem em conviver com as incertezas. Te ensina a deixar fluir e a fazer do seu corpo e coração a sua casa. Tem alguma coisa mais linda do que isso ?

What I’ve found in Raja Ampat is feeling.
The wind and sea salt whipping at my face, the low rumble of the motor, the ocean getting colder the deeper I swim, soft white sand and warm waves lapping.

Every light carries with it a ray of hope 🙏🏽

I took some time yesterday to visit a spot I hadn’t visited in a long time, and was blessed to walk away with a renewed perspective on it 🌱

Over the years, I began avoiding places like this (and several others like it) as the wave of tourism brought a rapid change to beautiful locations here on the island. Scenes like this became cluttered with lines of tour groups and selfie sticks, and over time (while admittedly great for the local economy) it somewhat polluted the natural experience.

However, heading back here yesterday - a place that meant so much to me many years ago, and watching as my friend offered a few prayers beneath the light, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and hope for the future. This was the island I fell in love with so long ago, and even as time goes by and tourism returns and evolves, what lies beneath the crowds of people is and will forever be the same beautiful island it was well before we ever arrived ✨

I love reminiscing over old photos. Having lost multiple hard drives over the years, I think this is now the oldest photo I have from my career. I took it August 2016, just a few days after and I left our teaching jobs in Chongqing, China. I clearly remember the paradox of emotions; excited to finally be chasing our passions, while also fearful of the uncertainty this path held. I wonder what the next 6 years shall bring? 👽🕯

น้ำตกแรกที่เราไปกันในทริปบาหลี
ที่นี่น่าจะเป็นที่ยอดฮิตสำหรับใครที่มาเยือนมาหลีต้องมาให้ได้ มีที่จอดรถ ทางเดิน ร้านอาหาร เดินทางมาง่ายเหมือนสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวดังๆ ในบ้านเรา เดินลงไปตามทางเรื่อยๆ ลงบันไดอีกนิดหน่อย เราก็มาเจอกับ หุบเขาที่โดนล้อมไปด้วยหินผา และต้นไม้เล็กใหญ่ทั้งสองฝั่ง และมีละอองน้ำพัดมาสัมผัสตัวเราตลอดเวลามันชุ่มฉ่ำ เขียวสุดๆ เราตื่นเต้นกับทางเดินมากๆ เดินมาอีกหน่อย เข้าถ้ำไปเรื่อยๆ ก็มาเจอกับ น้ำตกที่ไหลลงมาเป็นเหมือนม่านผืนใหญ่ ที่ไหลลงมาอยู่ตรงกลางของภูเขา ของจริงสวยและอลังกาลมากเลยนะ พิมพ์ไปก็คิดถึง อยากไปอีกจัง

Каждый видит то, что хочет видеть. Кто-то - плевок в адрес страны/советского режима, кто-то - героический подвиг миллиона ликвидаторов. Многие усердно высматривают ляпы американцев, другие бегут копаться в архивах и сверять факты. ⠀
Равнодушным не оставит никого!

5 серий, каждая из которых держит в оцепенении и не даёт расслабиться. ⠀
Посмотреть стоит.
Страшно. Тяжело. Но нужно.

И если раньше я просто знала о трагедии и последствиях, которые коснулись и мою семью. Теперь я именно осознаю. В мельчайших деталях. Весь этот ужас. Причины и следствия. ⠀

Но еще страшнее - понимаю, что со времён Чернобыльской Аварии 1986 года, мало, что изменилось. Все тихо, гладко, да только пару раз в год очередная катастрофа под крышей коррупции, халатности, экономии, лжи...
