León se nachází v srdci Španělska a je dalším z důkazů bohaté historie a kulturního dědictví země. Toto město bylo pro nás jedním z dvou důvodů vydat se na celodenní výlet z Valladolidu, který jsme si zvolili jako základnu na jeden týden, v rámci našeho velkého výletu po Španělsku a jihozápadě Evropy.

León se může pochlubit množstvím historických památek, které návštěvníky přenesou zpět v čase. Náš výlet jsme začali hned ráno konventem San Marcos, kde jsme dokonce stihli konec mše, pak jsme pokračovali kolegiátním kostelem San Isídoro s krásnými platereskními stropy, a samozžejmě jsme nevynechali návštěvu královského panteónu kde jsou pohřbeni králové Leónu. Braga is a city in the northwestern part of Portugal, located in the historical province of Minho. It is one of the oldest cities in the country and has a rich history with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Roman Empire. Later, during the Middle Ages, it became an important Christian center. That is why it is often referred to as the "Portuguese Rome". The city is famous for its numerous churches, including the Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), which is one of the oldest cathedrals in Portugal.

Braga je město v severozápadní části Portugalska, ležící v historické provincii Minho. Je to jedno z nejstarších měst v zemi a má bohatou historii s důkazy o lidském osídlení sahajícími až do římské říše. Později, během středověku, se stalo významným křesťanským centrem. Proto je často označovaná jako „portugalský Řím“. Město je známé svými četnými kostely, včetně katedrály Braga (Sé de Braga), která je jednou z nejstarších katedrál v Portugalsku. Don’t touch starfish....❌❌❌
This is a request to all tourists, don’t tuch starfish. REQUEST TO ALL GUIDE Please make your clients aware of this.
What happens when we lift a starfish out of water for an impromptu photo session?
All over the body of starfish are papules called dermal gills. Carbon dioxide gases are exchanged for oxygen between the coelomic liquid of the starfish and the water. Essentially, it’s how they breathe, like having hundreds of tiny noses all over your body.
As fresh air is toxic to starfish and they can’t hold their breath for very long, each time they’re lifted out of the water for a photo op, they are drowning and suffering from a build up of carbon dioxide. It’s the equivalent of someone filling your lungs with water for a little while and then emptying them again. It’s not a good day out. When this is done repeatedly, it’s a flip of the coin as to whether the poor creature can die from drowning or the stress of being semi-drowned so many times.
Wildlife are not our playthings. Just because a creature is slow enough to be caught by human hands, that doesn’t give us the right to do so, and the social media attention gained certainly does not justify the harm caused to the critter.
This is an act we’re all guilty of at some point. What was happening to that animal in the moment didn’t cross our minds. But now we know better, so we must do better.

Znáte Valladolid? Že ne? Tohle nádherné španělské historické město určitě stojí za návštěvu. Valladolid je hlavním městem autonomního společenství Kastilie a León. Je fascinujícím městem s bohatou historií, kulturním dědictvím a mnoha zajímavými místy k prozkoumání. Více zde 🫶

Porto 🫶

Lower part of Ribeira, with its small central square Praca da Ribeira is – in my opinion – best part of Porto to just sit, sip your drink in one of bars, chill and enjoy. Its look is a product of the need to have goods flowing from the river to upper parts of city during 18th century. Square, surrounded by pictoresque houses, nice fountain and with modern sculpture of Sant John the Baptist from Joao Cutileiro (looks like made of Lego, or like some improved Minecraft art…:) ) Walking the riverbank, admiring coloured houses resembling Cinque terre (but with Portugal flavor mixed with Provence style) and wrought iron bridges over river Douro is a nice change from “mountain walk” through streets of this city, going constantly up and down…
