An ensemble-driven company, IMPRINT Theatreworks provides unique and thought-provoking theatrical experiences to unite and engage our community.
(18)
IMPRINT's Inaugural Season, "Built For Longing," garnered 12 DFW Theatre Critics' Forum Awards, a staggering 40 Column Award Nominations (with 3 wins), and inclusion on many Best of 2018 Year End Lists. Their sophomore season, "Mercury Rising," has continued to raise the bar with unique theatrical experiences and opportunities, including new partnerships, new works, and additional surprises along
the way. In their third season, entitled "Home," IMPRINT aspires to build a community of inclusion, where everyone from the underdog to the forsaken can find their Home. It all comes down to humanity. What does it mean to be human? It’s easy to look at the national conversation, but how can we make a difference right here and now? IMPRINT’s third season aims to bring larger issues to the forefront of the local conversation. No matter your beliefs, everyone has felt the pain of being an “other,” the struggles of uncertainty, and the absolute fear of the unknown. IMPRINT looks to tackle these universal feelings head-on in 2020. In addition to our four Mainstage offerings, IMPRINT will continue to produce its highly lauded First Impressions Festival, shining the spotlight on local playwrights and the stories they feel compelled to tell. Also included, is a world premiere devised work, HERE. Presented as a limited engagement, HERE. is an exploration of how we as a community can carry each other through darker times, exploring and embracing unique pathways through grief. The ensemble of performers brought together for this work will bravely explore their own struggles in a way that not only promotes, but bolsters the idea of community in even the hardest of times. Staying true to its mission as an ensemble-based company, IMPRINT strives to ensure that nobody is alone.

Thanks to some incredible donations from our generous supporters, we met 30% of our goal today! We are getting there! But there is still need. Help us fly with the Phoenix Fund!
Two years ago, we were put on pause, and the devastation of the past two years has left us in dire need of financial support.
IMPRINT has been crushed financially by the inability to produce regularly or consistently for two years. The Phoenix Fund is crucial to our re-emergence in this new world.
By offering your support, you will be partnering with us in determining the future of IMPRINT Theatreworks. The need is that great.
All donations to the Phoenix fund are tax deductible and will allow IMPRINT to continue our mission.
IMPRINT has never faced a challenge this great. Will you help us rise up?

2:30pm – how to catch a ghost by Erin Malone Turner, Directed by Kyley Sanchez
Four 20-somethings—a set of twins, an artist, and a graduate researcher—cross paths during the off-season at a Louisiana State Park, where things are getting stranger each day. A ghost story with lots of Southern comfort food, this speculative fiction play explores Black familial ties and the connection between nature and people, and asks questions about faith and the ways we hold ourselves back from what we truly want.
5:00pm – Ruby Tuesday by Mike Byham, Directed by Savannah Lloyd
Ruby Tuesday showcases the transformational power of love as told through the lens of a comic-book superhero origin story.

1:30pm – Shoot to Wound Not Bury Me by Lindsay Hayward
Directed by Jule Nelson-Duac
In a modern American classroom, two students turn over topics from collective trauma to wild cats over the consistent beep of an electronic bell. As ages and civilities shift between the two, what will happen when the countdown ends? shoot to wound not bury me ponders the price of this country's more intrinsic freedoms especially for our most vulnerable citizens.
4:15pm – I, Sick: An Unrequested Autobiography by Leroy Hood,
Directed by Logan Gabriel Frederick
An absurdist autobiographical comedy in the vein of Kafka and Camus, I, Sick: An Unrequested Autobiography follows the ambiguously ill I and the battles it faces (for I is no more than an it) with the American medical system, holistic medicine, faith healing, and spiritualism.

As has become tradition, we opened the festival with a playwright Q&A letting the audience ask questions to our brilliant playwrights about their craft. Then we kicked off performances with Walk-in Lockdown by Claire Fountain and closed the evening with Download by Lizzie D. Combs.
We had fascinating discussions and lots of laughs. We hope to see you tonight thru Sunday!

7:00pm – Preview of Monster by Dani Holway
A preview of the upcoming world-premier reading of Monster! A brutal interrogation of fame as it relates to unhealed wounds, Monster follows Lady, an abruptly sought-after superstar, in her gruesome pursuit of recognition, fulfillment, and universal love. Lady and her friends lay bare their damage as they each navigate their thirst for wholeness. Equal parts otherworldly and devastatingly real, Monster urges us to consider what it means to be successful, how we can still dance in the dark, and the cost of an impact.
8:00pm – Jude by Ethan Taylor, Directed by Bwalya Chisanga
As Jacob is preparing to leave for college, he starts to see visions of his dead sister who hopes he will stay at home. His mother and father try to hold everything together and also...there’s a vampire. This play wonders about how grief and time change love and its nature.

6:30pm – Special Performance by Jamall Houston
One of the smoothest voices in DFW comes to serenade us with some of his original songs!
7:00pm – A Picture of Ruth by Jared Culpepper, Directed by Michael McMillan
A Picture of Ruth examines with a modern viewpoint the culture surrounding Ruth Snyder’s 1928 ex*****on in the electric chair at Sing Sing Penitentiary. With sardonic comedy, we observe the sordid affair with Judd Gray, the murder of Ruth’s husband Albert, the trial-of-the-century spectacle, all the way through to the clandestine photographing of her last moments.
8:30pm – The Driveway Ballet by Colby Calhoun, Directed by Ashley H. White*
A child can not fix a car, but they can dance in the driveway. Along the way, they are met by friends, family, and foes both new and familiar. Shockingly they learn nothing about car repair, but they do learn a little about themselves and the relationships they love(d) most.

7:30pm – Walk-in Lockdown by Claire Fountain, Directed by Julia Bodiford
The walk-in cooler of a national casual chain restaurant is notorious for being the best place to have a good old on-the-clock cry, but it's definitely not the best place to be trapped with your least favorite regular during a tornado. The joke goes something like this: "an annoyed college student, a stoner cook, a momma server, a new manager, an odd busser who isn't technically old enough to legally work there, and everyone's least favorite hot-water-with-lemon-and-extra-ranch regular walk into a walk-in cooler..."
8:30pm – Download (or A Copy of a Rose) by Lizzie D. Combs, Directed by Cynthia Beene
It's the near future. After a fatal accident, Rose Gray’s body is cloned and her memories are downloaded from a database, essentially bringing her back to life. Her husband, Kane, brings her to a remote cabin for a fresh start. As Kane becomes more controlling, Rose can't shake the feeling certain memories are missing and that everyone around her is hiding the truth.

IMPRINT Theatreworks, In Partnership with Soul Rep Theatre Company, is excited to announce auditions April 4th and 5th for:
WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT A PRESENTATION ABOUT THE HERERO OF NAMIBIA, FORMERLY KNOWN AS SOUTHWEST AFRICA FROM THE GERMAN SUDWESTAFRIKA, BETWEEN THE YEARS 1884-1915 written by Jackie Sibblies Drury
Production Dates: May 19 - June 4, 2022
Location: Bath House Cultural Center
Directed by Quintin Jones
with directing mentorship from La Hunter-Smith
Stage managed by Ruby Pullum
-----ABOUT THE SHOW-----
Considered a modern masterpiece, WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT… takes place largely in a rehearsal room that descends from collaborative to absurd as a group of idealistic actors attempt to recreate the extinction of the Herero tribe at the hands of their German colonizers. Along the way, they test the limits of empathy as their own stories, subjectivities, assumptions, and prejudices catalyze their theatrical process. Eventually, the full force of a horrific past crashes into the good intentions of the present, and what seemed a faraway place and time comes all too close to home.
PLEASE NOTE: This play contains strong subject matter including themes of prejudice, erasure, harsh language (including racial epithets) and imagery. If you have any questions about the material prior to auditioning, please reach out to [email protected] for more information and access to a perusal script.
Auditions will be held April 4th and 5th by appointment at 1106 Lupo Drive in Dallas

Our Story
IMPRINT Theatreworks is a nonprofit theatre company based in Dallas, TX.
In its 2018 inaugural season, IMPRINT stunned audiences with bold designs and stellar performances in David Mamet’s GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS; rocked worlds in the “dangerously immersive” Regional Premiere of MURDER BALLAD by Juliana Nash and Julia Jordan; turned the world right-side-up with iconic female voices in the Regional Premiere of Lauren Gunderson’s THE REVOLUTIONISTS; and explored class struggle in BLOOD BROTHERS by W***y Russell.
Additionally, IMPRINT presented brand new works by local artists through the FIRST IMPRESSIONS FESTIVAL and ON THE VERGE, a series of original and rare works born of artistic urgency. These brave new works included Dani Holway’s ON MONSTERS BUILT FROM BEES AND BONE and a reading of Matt Lyle’s TOO MANY CRUCIBLES. IMPRINT also presented local playwright Devin Berg’s SUCKERS in the Festival of Independent Theaters’ 20th Anniversary celebration.
Mark Lowry of TheaterJones stated “I can't think of a North Texas theater company...that has been as successful in its inaugural season as IMPRINT.”
IMPRINT's 2019 season, "Mercury Rising," builds upon that foundation with a season of exploration, featuring characters pushed to the brink of what they thought was possible. Beyond the MainStage season, IMPRINT is launching two new initiatives to create new artistic opportunities for artists on the rise. The FIRST IMPRESSIONS MAINSTAGE SHOWCASE will feature three fully produced shows from the first two seasons of the FIRST IMPRESSIONS FESTIVAL. This will be produced in conjunction with IMPRINT’s new Director Development Program, a unique opportunity for hands-on education and mentorship.
IMPRINT Theatreworks is a peripatetic theatre company, making its home in spaces throughout Dallas including Bath House Cultural Center, Stomping Ground Comedy Theatre, Margo Jones Theatre, and Addison Theatre Centre.
