Baptist Prep Sr. Trip Photo's and events from the Baptist Prep Senior Trip to DC and NY

30/05/2019

What a great trip! I hope the kids have great stories; we did a lot! I am assuming they are worn out. A big thank you to the drivers and all they did. Another big thank you to Mrs. Hopkins and the work she did organizing and executing the trip. Finally a thank you to the parents that trusted us to take students on this adventure. Now let the senior year begin for the class of 2020.

Rough start to the morning. When we got to the Statue of Liberty they were having technical issues changing their system to "summer hours". They had to reboot, relog in, and reprint all our tickets. The result was very little time at Liberty Island, but a nice boat ride. The plays, bus tour, and Time Square were great!

What we didn't cover by foot today we made up in driving. Multiple cities, and we are not done yet! Annapolis, MD, Philadelphia, PA; and New York City at Midnight! The tour guides at Annapolis complemented our group multiple times. I caused us to miss the Liberty Bell, but not the Philly Cheesesteak!

Yesterday was eventful, and we put some miles on our shoes. Started with some monuments. Learned that the picture used for a sculpture at the Vietnam Memorial included Chloe's uncle. Then it was off to the White House! We didn't see President Trump, and apparently just missed him at Arlington Cemetery by a couple hours! When the syorm rolled in we were on the Metro. So got off at the perfect stop, and waited for the storm to pass. Then it was off to the Cemetary. The Devotional by Andrew and the worship time was awesome! We had a good dinner, but the highlight of the day had to be the "Footsteps of Washongton Moonlight tour!" Those that went will never forget it, but Matthew M. and David D. may wish they could!

Wednesday was a busy day. We started at the always impactful Holocaust Mueseum. I am always proud how are kids handle themselves. While other school groups are loud and disruptive, our students are respectful and learning from the experience. Seeing The Star Spangled Banner is always impressive and we spent the afternoon at the Smithsonians. And yes the monuments look different at night...Not to mention we ran into a couple Baptist Prep alumni.

Tuesday night we were so thankful that Congressman French Hill gave us a personal tour of the Capital. It even included getting to out on the floor of the House of Representatives! Oh and something about a train at midnight...we also ran into Class of '14 alumni Mitch Whalen, who is working with French Hill on Capital Hill.

We made it to DC! Dinner and the Capital are on the schedule.

Praying for the National Mission teams. Colorado leaves today; NYC and South Dakota leave tomorrow. God speed!

06/03/2019

Praying for all the Baptist Prep teams heading out across our community and the world over the next few weeks. May they all have safe travel as they are the hands and feet of God's church. The teams to Italy, Dominican Republic, and Peru leave today. May they have the confidence and courage to share God's love and good news despite the language and cultural differences!

83 days we will be Eastbound and headed to DC! Can't wait!

Niagara will never be the same! These guys had more fun and energy on Maid of the Mist than any group before! Patriotic songs like our National Anthem and chants of USA rang out. The Hogs were called, and they sang the Baptist Prep Alma Mater. I’ll Fly Away and Rise ‘n Shine also echoed through the mist. Hope to post a video later.

After some time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a tour of about 1/4 of Central Park (Which is smaller than Burns Park), we hit 5th Avenue. Now we are loaded up and heading out of town. Good bye New York; it’s been fun! Off to the next adventure.

Good morning from Jersey and our last day in NYC. If the see The Cake Boss we will tell him, “Hi.”

Busy day #5 (and part of 6). Started off remembering the fallen at Arlington Cemetery. Apparently we missed Vice President Pence and Senator Tom Cotton, who were at the Tomb of the unknown Solider 30 minutes before us. Seth, Trinity, Rebekah, and Whitley did a great job with worship. While Noah delivered an excellent message to his classmates. After spending time and eating cheese steak in Philadelphia it was off to the Big Apple. Their first view was atop the Empire State Building where we met up with Ms. Clark.
