Wishing The Doobie Brothers long-time member and multi-instrument master John McFee a very today. Took these photos recently on their latest tour during a stop in Oklahoma. If you haven't seen him play, you're really missing out... He is an amazing musician. He plays with a pretty amazing band too.

A week ago at this time, I was rocking out to The Doobie Brothers, in Durant, OK, and man, what a show! They were as good as when I first saw them back in the 70s in Memphis. Hell, maybe better. Amazing show. Just had to share some of my photos from that night. More photos on my website:

Got to see, then afterwards meet, one of my favorite musicians/songwriters of all time Friday night after his concert in Arlington. Mac McAnally has been one of my favorites since college, long before he became Jimmy Buffett’s music director. So glad I finally got to shake hands with him after the show and thank him for all those years of great music.

Happy birthday to Moody Blues bassist John Lodge, 78 years young today. Got to see him when he rolled through the Dallas area on tour in 2019. Here's to days of the future passed, present and still to come.

Happy 90th birthday to Willie Nelson, a Texas original. Have seen him a few times live (shown here when I last went to see him in New Braunfels, Texas in 2015) but I've been listening to him since Red Headed Stranger came out. I can't go on a road trip in Texas without some Willie on the playlist.

Cheers, Willie. Here's to another 90 years!

Reflecting today on the passing of music titan David Crosby. I was fortunate enough to see him a couple of times with Crosby, Stills and Nash during my youth, but never got a chance to photograph him.

While he was probably more remembered for songs like “Wooden Ships” and “Almost Cut My Hair,” I remember a gentler side of this amazingly talented musician.

This song reminds me of that side of “Croz.”

From the album Wind on the Water (1975) Written by David Crosby

Happy birthday to Billy F Gibbons, right, of ZZ Top, who turned 73 on Friday. Was lucky enough to see the little ol' band from Texas when they blew into Dallas earlier this fall. He's always a sharp dressed man, no matter what he paid for the sunglasses.

Goodbye, Jerry Lee Lewis. You meant more to your fans than can ever be described here in a few words. You defined punk before punk was cool. You broke the mold and tore up the rule book. And for that, we are all eternally grateful. And music is better.

RIP, . In heaven, there's good rockin' tonight!

Happy 39th birthday to country music firebrand Nikki Lane, who I finally saw on tour for the first time last year. Lane isn't afraid to tell anyone what she thinks about them. And her audiences love it. Whether you call it outlaw country, cowpunk or something else entirely, you should definitely "Man Up" and catch her next show.

Cannot believe it’s been six years now since his passing. Still makes me sad.😢🎼“Ziggy played guitar…” 🎶

I can't believe it's been a year since we lost David Bowie, who passed away on this day in 2016; he would have turned 70 on the 8th. I saw him a few times in , but this was the only time I ever got to photograph him, at the back in 1978. Godspeed, Major Tom.

Sad on Michael Nesmith's and Davy Jones' birthday. Got to see them both perform live over the years, Nesmith most recently in September, when I made this image.

RIP, Papa Nez. Whether from The Monkees or from or from The First National Band, I'll always be humming one of your tunes from time to time... you'll be able to tell from the smile on my face.

Heartsick over the passing of . Watched and listened to him since The Monkees first came on in the 60s. Was lucky enough to see him a few times over the past few years, both solo and with the Monkees, including just recently in September on their farewell tour. He always knew how to make an audience smile.

So long, Papa Nez, you belong to the ages now.

Sorry to hear of the passing of today. I got to cover him during his 1996 presidential campaign, including here in his hometown of Russell, Kan., during the announcement of his choice for running mate (Jack Kemp). Bob and Elizabeth really knew how to work the crowd that day, and his hometown friends and family loved it. And him.

Veteran of WWII, statesman, tireless advocate for veterans. Thank you for your service, senator. RIP.

Happy birthday to Fee Waybill, 71 years young today. Glad I got to see him a couple of years ago when The Tubes were in Dallas. One in a million? He was a punk before you were a punk!

RIP Rolling Stones drummer extraordinaire , gone at 80. He drove the rhythm of the original "world's greatest performing rock 'n' roll band." Was fortunate to see him and the boys during several tours over the years, including the last time in Arlington in 2015. Godspeed, Charlie.
