7 lessons from "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running: A Memoir" by Haruki Murakami:

1. Running is a Metaphor for Life
Murakami's love for running is a metaphor for his approach to life. He shows how running teaches us to face challenges head-on, push through difficulties, and find joy in the journey.

2. Embrace Solitude

3. Persevere Through Pain
Murakami's experiences with physical pain and injury while running teach us to persevere through challenges. He shows how pushing through difficulties can lead to growth and transformation.

4. Find Your Own Pace
Murakami's running philosophy emphasizes the importance of finding your own pace. He encourages us to listen to our bodies and honor our individual rhythms.

5. Mindfulness is Key
Murakami's running practice is deeply rooted in mindfulness. He shows how being present in the moment can lead to greater awareness, clarity, and fulfillment.

6. Connect with Nature
Murakami's love for running outdoors highlights the importance of connecting with nature. He shows how nature can inspire, heal, and ground us.

7. Writing and Running are Intertwined

Today Mexico celebrates el Día de Mu***os (the Day of the Dead), one of the most fascinating celebrations around the world. It might remind you of Halloween, but it’s in fact a totally different tradition.

These spectacular makeovers are inspired by skulls, but they’re not intended to be scary. The Day of the Dead is not a somber occasion at all, but a colourful celebration. People give offerings to the souls of loved ones who have passed away and feel a little closer to them.

I took this this photo a few years ago in Mexico City.

Bob Marley was once asked if there was a perfect woman. He replies:

Who cares about perfection?

Even the moon is not perfect, it is full of craters.

The sea is incredibly beautiful, but salty and dark in the depths.

The sky is always infinite, but often cloudy.

So, everything that is beautiful isn't perfect, it's special.

Therefore, every woman can be special to someone.

Stop being "perfect", but try to be free and live, doing what you love, not wanting to impress .
