YESTERDAY WE HAD A IMMIGRATION PROBLEM!!!😳

We were traveling from Mexico to the USA and upon arriving at customs the officer told me: “There is a problem with your ring” to which I responded: “I don't understand, what are you talking about? I don't have a ring on today” and he told me: “That ring” pointing behind me and when I turned around Shane was kneeling showing me a beautiful ring. 💍

I was in shock!! I couldn't believe it and I even asked him if he was serious, he says it took me seven minutes to respond (actually it was like 10 seconds) and the answer was yes, a thousand times YES! We are now engaged people. 👩‍❤️‍👨💍

Everything went perfect, when Shane was planning everything he didn't know that the customs officer would help him and he did. Plus, a woman in line took photographs, unexpectedly, capturing the moment. Everyone in line applauded and shouted “Congratulations!! ” It is very meaningful for us to do it Right in front of an immigration officer since we are travelers.

The most beautiful thing is the meaning of my ring and I want to share it with you. Each of the gems has a special meaning. On the left side there is a garnet that represents the month of January (the month in which we met) on the right side there is another garnet (January) which is the month in which my oldest daughter Celeste was born. The next gem on the left side is a topaz (November) the month in which April's (second daughter) was born. On the right side, next to the garnet is a ruby (July) which is when my son Pablo, was born (on the same day as Shane's birthday actually (July 19th)). Finally, the fifth gem in the middle is a fake gem, that will be replaced by the month in which we will get married. It is not beautiful? 🫶🏼The explanation Shane gave me melted me. He told me that my children are part of me and that he wants everything from me. 🥰 I can't be happier! I love you Shane McClellan!! ❤️

The next sites we visited were The Agate Fossil Bed National Monument and Scott's Bluff Monument. The first one was quite interesting. As everyone knows, a fossil is any preserved remains, impression, or trace of any once-living thing from a past geological period. The ones found here are amazing as well as the Indian artifacts they have on display. Shane's favorites were the moccasins. Check it out!

In Scott's Bluff they have a hiking path where you can get an idea of how the trip in a wagon would have been for the immigrants. In the video we were able to discover the difficulties they faced during the trip, such as rapid and massive deaths from cholera ( back then they did not know they could get sick from the water of polluted rivers and lakes). Anyways, rich with geological and paleontological history as well as human history Scotts Bluff Monument is a must to visit.

We have started our trip through the state of Wyoming, and we started at Fort Laramie. What we like the most about visiting a unit within the National Park Service is that almost all of them have a video explaining the entire history of the place, origins, how it is found and what you should pay more attention to. They are very well made videos, we recommend asking for them before looking around.
At Fort Laramie we love how they have everything recreated exactly as it was at that time, even the grocery store has a couple of people dressed up as it was. Cute don't you think? Fort Laramie is important because it was used as a safe haven during the push westward.

Cheyenne is a beautiful city full of history and beautiful decorative details that we will mention below and it is also where we started this adventure through the state of Wyoming.

We visited the city museum and we were able to see what we would be about to discover in the following weeks. (How exciting!!)

Outside of some buildings you can find huge cowboy boots decorated with themes of the region, as well as Indian tepees, like the ones we show you here. I loved that in some corners of the city there are small statues of animals found in the region such as deer, bears, coyotes, cats. BTW, if you manage to see the fabulous creature called jackalope (which you only find in the region) don't hesitate to contact the Forest Rangers or seek psychological help, if you know what I'm talking about. 😵‍💫🤪😜(Shane- I got her to believe in them with a stuffed animal for sale until I filled her in on the joke. Haha)

In the last post we told you that we went to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Wyoming, but we didn't tell you why that particular rodeo. Well here is the reason, Shane's parents, several years ago, decided that they wanted to visit the state capitals of each of the United States (isn’t that cool?) and they wanted to end up in the State of Wyoming. So, some time ago they planned this trip, where we met up with family and friends.

Also the idea was that from there we will start a road trip around the state for a couple of weeks (which we have been doing, as you can see in the stories that we share almost daily).

It was an emotional ceremony in which the governor of Wyoming presented them with a certificate of recognition for having completed visits to the 50 US Capitals.

After the ceremony, we received a complete tour of the beautiful building. If you look at the photographs you will be able to see the room in which it was decided to give women the vote for the first time in the USA and apparently in the world, Wow!! it was here in the state of Wyoming in 1869.

We arrived in the United States of America! Yahoo!! 🇺🇸 To be completely honest, we already needed a little comfort and good treatment 🥺 and what a better way to start than with "The Rodeo". I had never been to one and it was exciting!!😃 what I knew of them was only from movies and TV shows and being there was super exciting, seeing the skills competitions of the cowgirls and cowboys. 🤠I loved it!

The rodeo we attended (Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming) has an annual chuck wagon cooking contest, with recipes and cooking techniques from the cowboys chuck wagon era. We thought it was very cool and we wanted to be part of it and enjoy the food which looked delicious. But it's so popular that tickets sold out since last May.

We were also able to see the presentation of typical Native Indian dances while we were enjoying a delicious Indian Sandwich for lunch. YEE-HAW!!!🤠

Bartica and Linden are the two towns we visit in Guyana beside Georgetown, But they were not too different from the city, because there are no sidewalks either! 🙄😐

In Bartica we recommend you not to book for more than two nights, since there is not much to see, we rented a taxi that took us to a couple of waterfalls in the mining area (nothing spectacular, as you can see). When we traveled there we were expecting to see more places around but what was our surprise that a short 10-minute boat trip cost us more than what we paid from Georgetown to Bartica, which was two hours. Crazy! 🤔🥴

In Linden the trip was better, we got to know the Black River, The Top Blue Lake and The Blue Lake in which we jumped into the water to cool off. And this was our final destination in Guyana. 🇬🇾

Two places that we did like in Guyana are the Guyana Natural Museum and the Botanical Garden.

In the museum they have a very interesting collection of stuffed animals from the region. Check out the size of this sloth, obviously it does not exist today, but they recently found the fossilized remains of this animal and recreated its appearance. It is awesome!!!

At the Botanical Garden we found several cast iron bridges that are called “Kissing Bridges”…Yeah!!!! We also found a fountain called the Place of the Seven Ponds, which was cool.
