If you’re planning a trip to Alaska this summer, Denali National Park is a must-do; there’s activities for everyone! Some tips:
🏔️ Summer season at Denali starts May 15, however better viewing opportunities tend to be later in the summer as a lot of areas in Alaska will still have snow melting anywhere from April-early June. Traveling by train is an option (via Anchorage or Fairbanks) and can give you an awesome view of interior Alaska.
🏔️ A landslide in 2021 has shut down a large portion of the road that goes closer to the Mountain. It is expected that the full road (90+ miles) will not be open until 2026. Private vehicles are only allowed to drive a small portion while the busses (with some narrative options) can go approximately 25+ miles further, up to Mile 43.
🏔️ Stop and see the Denali Sled Dogs, or go on a White Water Rafting Adventure! Denali is the only national park with a sled dog team, and they pride themselves by having the land untouched by motorized vehicles in most areas. White Water Rafting trips can range anywhere from Class l to Class IV rapids.
🏔️There are opportunities for helicopter or plane rides that can get you right next to the peak; if you luck out on a clear day (and even if it’s not!) you’ll see amazing sights such as glaciers, bears, moose, and many other wildlife!
