Will be off to Japan in about a week. We have two groups going with us for the International Quilt Festival in Tokyo and then other exciting sightseeing and some textile workshops. This is an interesting post I found. It talks about using the Boro technique of old Japanese fabrics which was a way of patching clothes to continue using them. This artist used the technique on a horse statue.
This was relavent to me as we will be visiting the Boro Textile Collection at the Amuse Museum in Tokyo on the Japan Textile Tour and Tokyo International Quilt Festival in January 2019. For information on the tour visit http://opulentquiltjourneys.com/ .

Being an outdoor woman at heart, I find this type of sculpture fascinating. Jack & I hiking one day saw hundreds of stacks in a dry riverbed in Sedona. Of course, we had to make one too.
But none were as Intricately stacked as these beautiful works of natural art. This must take a very steady hand.

As you may have guessed by some of my posts, Bali is one of my favorite places, along with a few others, I must admit. I love the people who are so friendly and welcoming, and I love their amazing culture and temples and on and on. One of the other things I enjoy is the shopping. This is my favorite bag shop. One of the things you must learn about shopping in foreign lands, if you love it - buy it now. The item may not be there later and the whole shop may not be there the next time you return to Bali.
P.S. I did make it home with a few of her bags and hope she will be there when I return to Ubud, Bali.

This is a wonderful area of China. Guizhou has a diverse landscape with lots of mountains. It is located in the southwest of China. There are many traditional rural villages and minority groups like the Miao and D**g. They make beautiful handicrafts including incredible metal embroidery. Enjoy!
