Rocks, rocks and more rocks.
Finally made it last weekend to Brimham Rocks in North Yorkshire where I’ve wanted to go for ages. They have great names like Dancing Bear and the Druid’s Writing Desk. Plus a bonus side quest to the model village of Saltaire and Salts Mills to peep at some David Hockney art.
Day trip of dreams.

My scene report from

brought great energy (and eye catching outfits)

has an incredible presence and brilliantly belted through some ballads in various dialect

Bunty and George are an absolute delight, such lovely and generous souls, and I cannot wait to take them up on their kind offer of a visit and wander sometime

I need to invest in a cassette player so that I can get my hands on everything has to offer

And, when I finally fulfil my goal and create my own Well Dressing - as per the local custom in the village where I grew up - I WILL NOT try and design faces. I do not possess the skill set for that, and poor Chesterfield Council will never live down their Well Dressing of Princess Diana (world famous for all the wrong reasons)

Enormous thanks again to Russ for allowing me to participate in the day, revel in local customs and make new friends.

A weekend in Finland 🇫🇮 to see and the opening their brilliant sculptural sound installation Piste

Jussi was the best host showing us around Pori, including and his amazing home where all kinds of musical magic happens. Brilliant bonus catch up with Then to Helsinki for excellent Finnish food, sauna and the most incredible church set in stone. I’ll miss the long drinks too. Kiitos Finland

Next Friday 31st January, our fabulous friends are launching a new sculptural and sound based installation Piste (Point in English) at the newly reopened in Pori, Finland.

Friday 31st Jan marks the press opening, with the official public opening on the Feb 1st running until August 31st 2025.

Briefly about: due to their materiality, the minimalist sculptures included in the exhibition acquire features referencing popular culture. The dodecahedron, made of sheet metal and a frame, resembles the aesthetics of heavy metal music, a notion that is amplified by the seven box-like shapes arranged to ritualistically circle the centre sculpture.

Look out for future announcements from Circle and the museum for additional events during the exhibitions duration.

Visited the jaw dropping Lud’s Church in the Peak District for the first time, with a surprise, ear-popping detour to Flash, Britain’s highest village. This mossy geological wonder has been on our radar for aeons. The super cute robin must have been trying to tell us something as he followed us around the whole time.

Such an excellent cover feature with and written by Antonio Poscic and with photos by Massive thanks to Emily Bick
