Rev. Wayne F. Miller

Evansville - Rev. Wayne F. Miller, age 90, of Evansville, IN went home to receive his heavenly reward on Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was ushered into the presence of the Lord peacefully at home in the company of his family. After answering the call to ministry at the age of 25, Rev. Miller evangelized and pastored several different churches for over 65 years. He held revivals in California in the 1950's, evangelized in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri before starting to pastor in 1962. Over the years he pastored several churches in Illinois and Indiana; his last pastorate was in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He devoted himself to his family in every season of life. He always counted it the highest honor to pastor and shepherd God's flock and poured himself into his congregations and friends he made over the years. He graduated from the University of Evansville and worked for years in the Vanderburgh County Court System as a Bailiff and Juvenile Probation officer. He was also a radio disc jockey spinning gospel music every Saturday morning for WVHI.

Wayne was born in Dugger, IN on October 15, 1931. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. James Andrew Miller, his mother, Arzella Geneva (Smith), his older infant sister, and his younger brother, Paul Vernon Miller. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary (Preston) Miller, his daughters, Deborah (Dale) Farrar, Vicki (Charles) Zehner, Cindy (Larry) Farrar and Rebecca (Roger) Conklin.

After retirement from pastoring, his family was his life. He loved them dearly. Besides his daughters, he had twelve grandchildren: Meshona (Keith) Howard, Stephanie (Russell) Reese, Ryan Farrar, Heather (Travis) Arvin, Jeremy Farrar, Rev. Jason (Carrie) Farrar, Adam (Arrica) Farrar, Shannon (Eric) Bodrie, Sarah (Vance) Zehner-Wilson, Josh (Jenny) Conklin, Haley (John) Silva Mario, and Kaleb Conklin. To date, he has been blessed with 23 great grandchildren.

He officially retired at 79 years of age. During the week, you could often find him walking five miles per day in Eastland Mall. He met and made numerous friends doing so. He often filled in pastors' pulpits as requested and enjoyed working in a jail ministry. He was a fervent prayer warrior. He daily rose before dawn to pray for the needs of his family, friends and nation and kept a journal of names for which to pray.

Wayne's funeral will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, in Evansville, IN. Visitation hours will be on Monday, February 14 prior to the memorial service from 10:00AM – 12:30 PM. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
