There are two ways to start your Copper Canyon adventure...one is from the East (Los Mochies) traveling from sea level up almost 8000 feet through mile long tunnels, with 80 plus span bridges, and track at a seven degree grade going East to Northwest. You can go all the way to Chihuahua and leave from there or what we recommend, go to Bauvochivo or Creel and back to LMM. We highly recommend the return trip as you will see it all the magnificent sights again as the train travels at 30 MPH and you will want to take pictures of your favorites views like the upside down rainbow (usually sunrise or sunset) at the mile high waterfalls, or spend more time with the local Indian tribes who will greet you at all the stops, mostly women with their precious children and lots of safe finger food, trinkets and hand made crafts. Some people like to bring presents for the children. Do not try to bargain as the women will get their feelings hurt and turn their backs on you...if they are Mexicans....go for it!
Los Mochies and Chihuahua have international airports. We can add Chihuahua to your itinerary and provide a guide. Our hotel of choice there is the Holiday Inn which is only a few minutes from the train station and offer reasonable suites that have living rooms, tiny kitchens, and bars (BYOB). Chihuahua is a big city and has lots of interesting sights, but it will change your mood after being in one of the last great wildernesses in the world. So keep in mind that the set itineraries can be customized even after purchase....which is why we like to talk to you at some point. We have been doing this since 1975.
That said, we have a fifty year 95% perfect track record. Inevitably, there have been a few disgruntled clients over the years, who for the most part have been satisfied. There have been con artist who take the trip and then sue to get their money back. These are professional crooks who threaten to write bad reviews if they are not refunded their money back...almost all of them are Asian. So if you see something negative about us, please contact us and we will explain what happened. Everyone who buys travel insurance have never had a problem. Our refund policy is on our front page and is clear. Planning and executing a perfect adventure into a wilderness takes experience, solid people, great hotels, good food, and one of the last great wildernesses in North America.
We are the only Western Run Copper Canyon specialist still in business. We have an affiliate office in Cabo San Lucas that has been there for decades and if you want to add Cabo to your adventure, you can go there six days a week and pick up hard copies of your tickets and vouchers. One of the founders discovered the Copper Canyons almost fifty years ago where he was snet to get an interview with the ninety year old Mrs. Poncho Villa....it is a great story and if you want to hear it call Mondo at 808 272 3402.
