Our recent trip to Scotland surprised us with great weather. We cycled past castles, abbeys, cows, and lovely little towns. The drivers were courteous, the roads super narrow, and the challenge of 157 miles through Scotland and England was fantastic. For the few that continued their journey to the Highlands, we were rewarded with great weather and lots of beautiful sites.

Scotland is worth a visit and in this video are some of the sites you might see.

Everyone is home safe and sound after many hours of travel from El Calafate, Argentina all the way back to the Northeast of the US. We saw incredible Mountain Views, ate awesome food, laughed, enjoyed getting to know new people, challenged our legs, and raised some funds for children in Africa affected by AIDS (). Travel is made sweeter by the effort to walk further and have it impact someone else for the good.

The Tour du Mont Blanc is one of my all-time favorite hikes in the world. Stunning views, a real bed each night (if you chose), warm meals, awesome people on the trail, and it’s not high altitude.

If you or anyone you know is looking to hike this trail, I’d love to help you plan it!

Starting and finishing in the storied alpine town of Chamonix, France, the TMB circles Mont Blanc. This hundred-mile trail is one of the world's most stunning--and definitely one of its most entertaining.

Walk with us to Annapurna Base Camp! Here is a video recap of our journey in the beginning of October 2022. Each person raised at least $5,000 towards All Hands and Hearts work to rebuild schools affected by the earthquake in 2015. Our journey to base camp was made a little more challenging with unseasonal rains, but we pushed on and reached our goal. Natural disasters and unexpected monsoons can wreak havoc on an area, but with perseverance and the help of others we can reach our goals.

Hike to Annapurna Base Camp in October 2022 to raise funds and support for All Hands & Hearts rebuilding of schools following the 2015 earthquake in Nepal.

Our trip to hike to Annapurna Base Camp was to raise funds and awareness of the work of All Hands and Hearts in Nepal.

All Hands and Hearts (AHAH) arrived in Nepal 72 hours following the first earthquake, April 2015. Since then we have run multiple response programs and as we moved into long term recovery invested in rebuilding safe, disaster-resilient schools. To date, AHAH has completed 25 school campuses across four districts.

25 SCHOOLS COMPLETED
5,818 CHILDREN BACK TO SCHOOL
1 HEALTH POST COMPLETED
Other projects completed: Female Mason Training Program, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) training

The team has raised close to $35,000 so far: https://give.allhandsandhearts.org/event/annapurna-base-camp-trek-october-2022/e319708

The All Hands and Hearts Annapurna Base Camp team is on the move and getting closer to the mountain trek. Today, because of rain and storms in the area, we hopped in a van and drove 8.5hrs to the city of Pokhara (instead of flying). Then we transferred to two Jeeps to continue our journey towards the starting point for the trek. However, the rains have been unusually heavy and there are two places where the road is washed out and not passable by Jeep. So we stopped at a teahouse for the night and will have a long trekking day tomorrow.

When in Nepal, plans are fluid, much like the rushing waters we crossed today. The team is raising funds to support the rebuilding of schools that were destroyed by the earthquake in 2015. 8,800 schools were affected and there are still 600 left that need repaired. AHAH has rebuilt 25 schools, set up 100 temporary houses until houses could be rebuilt, and one medical center in the time since the earthquake. Our travel fluidity has given everyone a small taste of the challenges the communities face in trying to rebuild.

We push on tomorrow!

Why adventure fundraising? Through the years people have asked this question. Some have told me “I won’t go on an adventure where I have to raise money for a charitable cause.” I get it, it’s not always easy and can be uncomfortable asking people for money, but there is something wonderful that can happen by including others in the journey. This happened for one of the participants in the upcoming Nepal trip to climb to the Annapurna Base Camp to raise funds for All Hands and Hearts and their effort to build a school that was damaged in the earthquake that happened years ago.
