During the Second World War, Lisbon was a veritable nest of spies. 🕵🏻‍♂️🕵🏻‍♂

When the Second World War broke out, many wealthy European refugees headed for Lisbon. Taking advantage of Portugal's neutrality, the various states involved in the conflict sent spies to Lisbon to monitor their enemies and even their allies. 🇵🇹

💡 A little anecdote, one of the most famous people who frequented Lisbon at the time was none other than Ian Fleming, the author of James Bond. At the time he was working for British Naval Intelligence.
