Visited the Inn of the Good Samaritan to see how they are doing installing the mosaics from a Byzantine church found in Jiflick (that would have been lost if left in situ). I worked with Mahmoud who is in charge of the conservation on one of the side panels.

Persian fallow deer (Dama Mesopotamica) native to Israel from Biblical times were hunted to extinction in the early 1900s. Listed among the eight other kosher mammals in Deuteronomy 14: 4-5: roe deer, gazelle, addax, bison, oryx, wild goat, wild ox and ibex, only the gazelle and ibex remained in Israel.
