Hello everyone and thank you for joining my page. I can only apologise for the delay in replying to both your messages, and setting up a proper website for you to view. I am currently working on creating a website which will include all the details of what you can expect on my tour, The Scottish filming locations for the movie Highlander. What I can say, is that there will be tours this year, 2024, and that I’m very excited to meet you and to take you, my fellow Highlander fans, around the most iconic locations from the movie. Initially, the tour will only be able to accommodate four people at any one time, if there is enough interest in the tour going forward, perhaps that will change.
I can give you the basic idea here how the tour will work, and what you need to do in order to be prepared for the two day long adventure. Initially, the tours will take place on weekends, and the meeting point will be in Fort William. I personally will be arriving in Fort William on a Friday and doing what I always do, I’ll be staying at the Glen Nevis holiday park in Fort William. The tour will begin early on the Saturday morning, where I will take you to various locations including where the love making scene amongst others was filmed. From there, it’ll be the village scene, followed by Connor and Heathers home in Glencoe, I think this location will be perfect for a spot of lunch. From there it’ll be the Battlefield, where Connor first encounters the Kurgen, and then finally, where part of the end scene from the movie was filmed, where we see the jet flying overhead. On Sunday morning, we will travel to the Silver sands of Morar, where Ramirez and Connor run along the beach as part of the training montage. From there, it’s Loch Shiel, the birth place of Connor, and where Ramirez begins Connor’s training in earnest, and last but not least, we will travel to Eilean Donan Castle, the home of the Clan Macleod. Entrance to Eilean Donan Castle
and the grounds will be included in the price of the tour.
Your accommodation in Fort William is not included in the tour price, and will be completely down to you to book your accommodation ahead of time. I can certainly recommend places for you to stay in Fort William if you wish. You should pack your own food and water for both days and please be sure to bring a backpack, some form of walking boots/shoes, spare warm clothes and waterproofs, and don’t forget your camera. The weather is never guaranteed in the Highlands of Scotland, I can only hope whichever weekend you book, the sun is shining. The tour will begin early in the morning because Glencoe, Fort William and The Silver Sands of Morar are very popular tourist spots, and to ensure we can park near our locations, we need to be up with the birds and ready to go.
I will pick you up from wherever your accommodation is in Fort William, and I will drop you back there at the end of each day. As yet I have not set a price for the tour, but I will some point soon. Your payments will be taken and paid into a bank account, where you will have a digital copy of your transaction. I’m afraid that if you book and pay for the tour and do not show up for whatever reason, payments will be non refundable, except under special circumstances.
This tour requires you to be physically able to walk and requires at least a minimum level of fitness. The Silver Sands requires you to walk a half hour path through the sand dunes to arrive at the filming location that’s there, the other locations are easier in that regard. Ok, I hope that’s answered some of your questions and queries, and please feel free to message me with any further questions regarding the tour. I will be posting back here soon with an update.
