embrokeshire National Park TIC. In the past I led horse treks across the Preseli Hills (a short distance from our B&B). Brian is a Welsh speaking native of Newport and a great raconteur of local stories. Hengoed is less than five minutes walk from the coastal path and has a footpath opposite the front door that leads you to the Iron Bridge, straddling the Nevern Estuary. From there you can take the coast path towards Moylegrove, St Dogmaels and Cardigan passing Newport Golf Course and Newport Sands or turn the other way heading towards the Parrog, Dinas Island, Fishguard and St Davids. Conversely, you can ignore the call of the sea and walk uphill towards Carningly Mountain passing Newport Castle and St Mary’s Church and wonder the Preseli Hills. The panoramic views are breath taking. The third option is to partake of the delights of Newport, its taverns, restaurants and cafes.
