How Often Do You Think About Travel? 💁 - We think about it every day, so we wanted to share this passion with others. Here is a little story about how we started to do just that. https://mailchi.mp/cdf1fefebf95/how-often-do-you-think-about-travel

Meghan and I think about traveling all the time. Literally every day. It’s truly our favorite thing to do and our Number 1 hobby. So we decided, what better than to take this passion and share it with other people. ✈️

HOW TO GET THE MOST OF FRANCE AND ITALY IN ONE TWO WEEK TRIP.
This past March I spent around two weeks bouncing all around Italy with a stop in Paris. I brought a friend, Lauren, along who hadn’t really ever been before, so I treated the trip like an Intro to France and Italy.
We both have a shared love of cuisine, wine and cocktails, art, and history so we chose a lot of heavy hitters this visit.
Grab a pen and start taking notes because here’s how to get the most of France and Italy in one trip and you won't want to miss the places we visited.
Paris.
The City of Lights is usually at the top of most people’s Europe bucket list. That’s why it's our first stop. This heavily romanticized city is huge and full of so so much to see. This itinerary is a whirlwind best off and by no means is all encompassing. Things are grouped together by location to make the most of your time in Paris. And if museums aren't for you, that's okay! Substitute in some time shopping, or a visit to the Catacombs.
Day 1
Arrive to Paris
Rue des Abbesses
Wall of Love
Cafe des Deux Moulin
Moulin Rouge
Pigalle
Day 2
Montmartre: Le Consulat, La Maison Rose, Place du ThÊâtre, SacrÊ Coeur
Palais Garnier
Eiffel Tower
Champs Elysees
Arc De Triomphe
Day 3
Half day at the Louvre
Explore Latin Quarter: Shakespeare and Co, Notre Dame, Pont Neuf
L’avant Comptoir de la mer for Oysters and Wine
Bar Hemingway
Harry’s New York Bar
Day 4
Musee D’orsay
Walk along the Seine toward Pont Alexander III
Les Invalides
Grab a bite to eat at Au Canon des Invalides or Le Recrutement Cafe and snap some great Eiffel Tower pics.
Fly to Venice
Notes about Paris
Travel: Uber, Cabify, Taxis and Chauffeur now are all available for rides but the metro is extensive and really easy to use. Bonus - your metro tickets never expire! If you don't use them, save them for your next trip to the city of lights.
Dining Suggestions: Bistro Paul Bert, L’avant comptoir de la mer, L’Escargot Montorgueil, Bouillon Pigalle, Abri, The Hardware Societe Paris, Chez Casmir.
Nightlife: Dirty Dick, Lulu White Drinking Club, Le Lipstick, Sister Midnight, Amaro, Candelaria, L’epicier, Moonshiner, Solera, Little Red Door, Experimental Cocktail Club, La Belle Hortense, Lavomatic.
Safety: Paris is a big city and just like many others pickpockets and theft are an issue. I personally have never had issues but just the same I stay aware, I wear a crossbody bag and I don't flash money. Nothing goes in my back pocket, ever. It’s best to be hyper aware of these things in crowded areas like the metro or in front of Sacre Coeur.
Venice
Venice is a dream. It’s on everyone’s bucket list. This tiny city built up of islands is a great place to visit on your first trip to italy. It’s easy to just spend a few days in the city to get a feel of it for the first time, but if you're anything like me you'll want to go back. Nightlife isn't huge in this city so, beware if that’s what you are looking for.
Day 5
Grand Canal
St Mark's Square
St Mark's Basilica
Rialto Bridge
Harry’s Bar - home of the Belini - but beware it's pricey.
Cantina do Mori - cicchetti Venice’s version of Tapas - but don’t call them that. This tavern was founded in 1492! It’s a piece of Venice's history. And SO affordable.
Day 6
Day trip to Burano and Murano
Day 7
Head to the train station and depart for Rome!
Notes on Venice:
Travel: it may seem silly to say this but, there are no cars! Water taxis and gondolas are the ride of choice. I suggest getting a pass for the water taxis for the duration of time you’ll be there. It's a great deal and they take you everywhere. Gondolas are a fun treat but definitely not the mode of transportation you’ll take often. If you're not in a boat, you're on foot! Walking everywhere. Make sure you bring the right shoes.
Dining Suggestions: Cantina do Mori, Bar all’Arco, Trattoria Al Gazzettino
Rome
I have been in awe of Rome since the first time I set foot off the metro and climbed to the light of day. Historical buildings towering over you, everywhere you turn your head something else is being unearthed. The pasta is fresh and amazing, Aperol Spritz are readily available for take away and I highly suggest you take one - or two as you tour around the city.
Day 7
Arrive in Rome!
Explore Spanish Steps
Trevi Fountain
Pantheon
Piazza Navone
Gelato from Giolitti
Day 8
Colosseum
Roman Forum
Mouth of truth
Circo Massimo
Castel Sant Angelo
Trastevere
Day 9
Vatican City
St Peter's Basilica
Sistine Chapel
Pack your bags and head to the train station, we’re going to Modena!
Travel: Uber, Cabify, Taxis are all available for rides but the metro is extensive and really easy to use. Most of the time I have spent in Rome has been walking everywhere so it’s doable.
Dining: Trastevere is my favorite neighborhood in the city full of delicious restaurants and cocktail bars. Some can’t miss places are Roma Sparita, Freni e Frizione, and Suppli Roma. Off the beaten path check out Trattoria Luzzi for super cheap and tasty pizza. L’antica Salumeria is another favorite of mine - you’ll find it by the Pantheon. There's piles of meats and cheese and the best pizza bianca bread you’ll ever have. Before you leave Rome make sure to try the 4 roman pastas. Alla Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, alla Gricia e all'amatriciana.
Safety: Same as Paris. HOLD ON TO YOUR THINGS! Pickpockets are abundant but just be aware.
Modena
Modena isn’t on everyone's list for the first time they visit Europe, or hell Italy for that matter. But I am going to tell you why it should be. Emilia Romagna is one of the best parts of Italy in my opinion and some of the best things in the world come from there. Prosciutto, Balsamic Vinegar, Parmesan cheese, need i say more? While you’re here you've gotta try the Tortellini en Brodo, a classic pasta of this region, as well as Lambrusco! Modena is home to this light bubbly red - my personal favorite find from the region. It’s available dry or sweet, but I prefer it dry. It’s perfect for Aperitivo.
Day 10
Take the train to Bologna and upon arrival pick up a rental car to drive to Modena
Arrive in Modena!
Explore the town of Modena
mercato, Hosteria Giusti,
Dinner at Frigeri
Day 11
Tour a Lambrusco Vineyard - Cleto Chiarli
Tour Acetaia Malagoli Guido - a balsamic farm! And if you book in advance you can have a homemade Italian dinner with balsamic in every way made by the owner of the farm himself. If you’re interested, send me a message and I'll connect you with his airbnb experience for booking.
Day 12
Return the car back to Bologna
Take the train to Florence.
Travel: Taxis are hard to come by if youre beyond the city limits, renting a car is the best way to get around here and be able to see surrounding areas.
Florence
Florence took me by surprise on my first trip. I knew I would like it but I didn't know how much. Standing next to the Duomo you feel as if you’ll be swallowed whole by it. It’s a lot smaller of a city than Rome or Paris but it’s packed full of culture. I’m obsessed with the apartments I stayed in - I stayed here in 2020 as well, it's so centrally located, with tons of space, and an AMAZING shower - which if you don't know are hard to come by in Europe. The unit I stayed in this past time even had the original painted ceilings. If you are interested in staying here send me a message and I’ll send you the link on booking.com!
Day 13
Visit the Duomo,
piazza della repubblica
Galleria Accademia Firenze - Statue of David! Get your tickets beforehand or you’ll spend all day in a queue and may not even get to see it.
Get Lunch at La Prosciutteria
Grab dinner at Trattoria ZaZa or il Teatro - you won't be disappointed.
View on Art rooftop cocktail bar offers an AMAZING view of the duomo.
Day 14
Mercato Centrale
Leather Mercato surrounding Mercato Centrale - head out and buy some fine leather goods! Bartering is not only accepted but expected.
Ponte Vecchio
Aperitivo at Piazza Santo Spirito - better than any other happy hour i have been to, buy a drink and it comes with food! Volume is great for this.
Piazzale Michelangelo for the most amazing view of the city - go at sunset and sip a negroni for me.
Day 15
Fly Back to the US!
There's plenty more to see and do and I have a ton of things saved on Google maps. Please feel free to reach out for any of these lists! All photos were taken with either a Iphone 11 Pro or a Samsung Galaxy by my oh so talented friend Lauren and edited in Lightroom.

This photo was taken in the summer of 2020 during the Pandemic when people were still only allowed to travel within their same residential community in Spain. 🇪🇸
Luckily, Christie lived in Mallorca at the time so she was able to travel to Formentera, the smallest island of the Balearic Island archipelago.
And even more lucky for her, the islands were not overcrowded or overbooked, and the beaches and calas were pristine. 🏝
To get this same experience when you travel to any island in the Med, make sure you go on the shoulder seasons or close to them. Try mid-late September/early October, or late April/early May. These are times when it’s not too blazing hot, as many apartments don’t have AC and the sun can be very intense in the summer with no clouds in sight most days. ☀️
Plus, you might also want to avoid the rainy/windy season which can come later in October and early spring, March/April. 🗓

16/05/2022

**Hi! I’m Christie!**
I just wanted to share a story of what got me into traveling in the first place and the SERENDIPITY that lead me to move abroad (short version):

In December of 2012 I went on cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau with my best friends. Not that it matters, but it was the first and only Coachella cruise (It was RAD)! On the cruise I ended up meeting this Spanish guy; we hit it off but we didn’t hang out much on the cruise. However, we ended up keeping in touch and dating long distance.

My first ever trip abroad was to Brussels to meet him. It was the first time we’d seen each other since the cruise. And it was WILD y’all! He was just like come visit me…and the next thing I knew he had bought me a plane ticket! We traveled to Bruges, Amsterdam and back to Brussels together. It was amazing.

Shortly after I returned from the trip, he called me and told me he was in Basque Country in Spain and had run into his ex-girlfriend’s mom. He hadn’t seen either of them in forever so he and the mom got to talking. That’s when he found out that his ex had moved from Zarautz, Spain to North Carolina…to the city where I was living! Just by chance. Coincidence. His ex didn't know anyone and was really hating it according to her mom, so when she found out he knew someone there she asked if I would be willing to meet up with her. The ex!
Of course I did and we became great friends. When she moved back to Spain I went to visit her. I loved loved loved Spain. I came home, wrote a Facebook post and just said “I want to move to Spain!” and I actually had a friend reach out to me to tell me about a teaching program in Spain.

I applied for the following school year (the start date was a year after I visited Spain the first time). In this program, they place you in a random locale in Spain. I had asked for Basque Country, but I received the Balearic Islands…Mallorca. At the time, I had never heard of this island- my knowledge of the islands was limited to Ibiza. And not only that, but I was placed in a primary school in the center of the island in a very small pueblo!

I was very nervous about where I would live and how I would get to school, so I emailed the school and the secretary messaged me back: “Hi! I’m the secretary. I’m 33 years old, I live alone and I am single. I live in Palma, the capital city. I can take you to work everyday and I have an extra room if you would like to live with me.” Of course I said yes!
And here’s where it gets really good…

I arrive in Mallorca (having never been there) and the secretary picks me up from the airport and drives me back to my new home. I am settling in and she’s asking me questions about myself and why I decided to move to Mallorca. I tell her this wild story about the cruise, and the boy and the ex-girlfriend of the boy and as I am describing the guy, she’s looking at me quite oddly, and asks “a guy from Basque Country, who lived in Madrid, but now lives in Morocco?...a farmer?” and I’m like “uh….yeah?” and she's just like “I think I know him! Turn around!”

And low and behold, I kid you not, this guy’s photo is sitting on her bookshelf! He was a friend of a friend who had lived in Madrid!

And that’s when I knew I was exactly where I belonged. Mallorca is home~ I lived there for 8 year and plan on moving there again in July. I can’t wait to get back!

I knew from that point on that traveling, meeting new people and having these small world experiences was what life is all about.

I hope to support womxn as they fill their lives with their own out-of-this-world life stories, and I can't wait to be a part of other womxn's new journeys and travel experiences!

13/05/2022

Hi everyone! My name is Meghan.Just like the rest of you, I’m in love with traveling. I have been home for a few weeks since I took a month-long trek through France, Spain and Italy in March. And I assume, just like everyone else, I’ve been at home bummed that I’m not traveling ever since.

Being new, I wanted to share some tips from my favorite city that I somehow always end up in, Paris. Listen, I know the French aren't always known for their love of Americans but it's not everyone. Some tips for avoiding those interactions are: Just learn a little of the language before you go. Do they expect anyone to be fluent? No, but a little bit of effort with s’il vous plait and merci goes a long way. Do a Duolingo course before you head over there, and be respectful of the culture they have developed. It’s different from what you are used to of course, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's why you are there, right? Embrace it.
I know Paris is a common trip for people so I just wanted to share with you some of my favorite places for anyone who has an upcoming trip. There's certain places I never miss and I don't think you should miss them either. I’m skipping the ones you already know, of course you should go see the Eiffel Tower.

First off, if you're looking for a cute affordable hotel I loved Hotel Locomo. The rooms are on the smaller side to an American traveler, but this is normal for Europe. They are cute, trendy and comfortable with a lovely view and an amazingly helpful staff. - I lost my phone in an Uber the trip I stayed with them and they went above and beyond to help me every time - and as a fun bonus, calls to the US are free from their landline phones in the rooms! It’s still within the city center but I wouldn't call it central, however close by its the gare de lyon so it's easily accessible.

Now that you have a place to sleep, if you're like me you're looking for places to eat and drink. There are a handful of places I go to literally EVERY time I come to the city. I’ve lost count of how many times I've visited at this point. Bistrot Paul Bert is the quintessential French restaurant. The one you dream of sitting in sipping wine, over a checkered tablecloth, watching people go by. Make a reservation a few weeks out. L’Avant Comptoir de la mer is the other restaurant I visit each trip. It’s a raw bar and wine bar tucked next to the bigger, more expensive restaurant. It’s a bar counter and standing room only kind of place so no reservations are needed or possible. The menu hangs from the ceiling featuring fun creative dishes based on foods from the sea. The freshest French oysters are available as well; The bigger the number, the smaller the oyster. Keep that in mind when ordering. Next door there is an additional standing room only spot featuring food from the land, you can order there and have it brought over to de la mer. My favorite tiki bar in the world lives in Paris, in Pigalle to be exact. The name of the bar is Dirty Dick and the space even used to be a brothel in the old days. Go order a Zombie and embrace the tiki vibes. The atmosphere is always busy and full of people and no worries, the bar staff speaks English if you don't know enough French.

Have you visited Paris or any of these places? What’s your favorite spot in the city?
