Tonight begins Simchat Torah.

How I wish I could share with you what I have just experienced in this past hour.... in the little synagogue in the small town (yishuv) where I live.... the celebration of the 'joy of the Torah' - Simchat Torah. It is a time of expressing great joy, and this year even more so - singing joyfully in times of trouble and war.

The sound of all the men singing as they walk in circles ( rounds) carrying the Torah scrolls, and singing endlessly of how great God is, and how He is the one who saves us, ('even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil') Endless praise and expression of trust in the Lord ( especially meaningful this year) ....so many songs ( like choruses) - some that I knew, and many that I didn't, but they are easy to pick up.
Little children are carried on their father's shoulders, and sweets are passed out.
How wonderful to celebrate God's Word like that.... the basis of our faith and our lives. Just amazing! Thank you Lord for Your everlasting Word.
Many will stay up tonight reading and studying together.
"Am Yisrael Chai!" Israel lives!

Sorry I don't have pictures or video from this evening..... tonight is considered like shabbat, so no taking of pictures, using phones etc. But, the memory is strong 🎻🌹🎻🌹🎻😊

Tomorrow is International Holocaust Memorial Day.

2003 was the year of the premiere of 'Oratorio Terezin' -
It was through the writing of this piece, based on the poetry of Children in Terezin, during the time of the Holocaust. It is now more than twenty years since God invited on this journey into the depth of His heart for His People Israel. My life changed from that moment on....

If you've not seen this wonderful documentary by Marion Rice-Oxley)about the writing of this piece,and the consequent performances in Canada, US, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Israel, I encourage you to watch it, and hear some of the music from 'Oratorio Terezin'

Dear Friends,

Hi from chilly Toronto.
Gil Pentak and I just returned from the UK this week, following a very special and significant time there. Many new doors are opening for us to share with groups large and small. This is such an important time for us to stand together, and we are certainly open to go through those doors as the Lord leads.

I just wanted to let you know that on Monday Jan,22nd, we will be continuing our study in 1 Samuel this coming Monday. We have just reached the moment of the anointing of Saul to be the King. and already there is 'unrest in the camp'. Do join us, as we continue our study together.
