Our 2024 Quilters Christmas Market Journey in London has concluded.

The final day was a free day, and everyone went their separate ways to explore museums, visit palaces, discover shopping areas, and admire the Christmas lights around the city.

I extended my stay enjoying similar activities, and also enjoyed the company of my dear friend Chris.

One highlight was the Ever After Garden with thousands of lighted white roses, here one could donate to the cancer society and choose a rose to dedicate to the memory of a loved one who'd passed. I dedicated one to my mom.

Until next time, London...Happy Christmas!

Quilters Christmas Market Journey Day 6.

Sadly, the winds and rains of Storm Darragh canceled our scheduled visits to Christmas Markets in Oxford and Blenheim Palace, including closure of the Palace. We made the best of it by visiting Oxford village shops and eateries, then heading to Windsor for a tour of Windsor Castle. Photos were not allowed inside the castle but it's certainly lovely and the Christmas decor made it more special. The kings flag was high above the castle indicating that the Royal was present. The town of Windsor at the foot of the castle is charming even in gale force winds.

Quilters Christmas Market Journey Day 5.

A lovely morning as we met our spirited Coach driver Chris, he was complete with Santa hat and Christmas carols. After a drive through the countryside we arrived in Wi******er to enjoy a fun Christmas Market at the foot of Wi******er Cathedral. Vendors had a wide variety of crafts and gifts for sale. Next we continued through the country to Bath, passing Stonehenge along the way. After we arrived in Bath, we explored #1 Crescent, a Georgian home all decked out for the holidays before visiting the Bath Christmas Markets.

Quilters Christmas Market Journey Day 4.

Our journey through the English countryside to the Cotswolds has started. Our first stop was Daylesford Farm, where we discovered an excellent organic grocery store, restaurants, gardens, and shops. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by their lovely holiday decorations, and our group was pleased to explore. Next, we explored the picturesque Cotswold villages of Stowe-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. We'll be spending the next two nights in Cirencester, a charming Cotswold village, at a beautiful hotel.

We were off this morning to Christopher Wilson-Tate's beautiful Antique Textiles Company to see and enjoy some of the vast number of fabulous quilts in his shop and also some from his private collection. Then we enjoyed Christmas Markets at Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. We ended the day at Liberty of London, many enjoying the store and also the lights on Regents and Oxford Streets. London goes all out with Christmas decor.

Day 2 Quilters Christmas Market Tour.

I always love a visit to London's oldest market, the Borough Market with amazing foods and flora. Then to Southbank for time wandering the banks on the River Thames before stopping at London's fabric mecca. At the Southbank Center a quilt known as the Patchwork of the Century is exhibited (see label). This evening it's on the Kew Gatdens for their lightshow.
