... kind of! Having a little extra time on my hands presently, I have decided to continue this little venture. I have also today finished reading The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society as recommended by my very own mum. It got my wondering why I have never ventured to the Channel Isles, and they have promptly been added to my 'future holidays list'. [ 138 more words ]

Finally, after a very hectic few weeks, it's time to relax in a camping pod just outside Kirkcudbright (pronounced 'kurcoobree'). I've reverted back to an old favourite which takes in the rugged coastline, picturesque inland villages and dramatic thoroughfares. There's nothing better than sitting on the quayside and identifying the whitewashed buldings where the characters are said to have resided. Where have you been? Can you recommend a Luggage Book? Or two? Or three?

The second of my holiday reads is brought to you from the historic and beautiful city of Prague. I find myself here completely unplanned and under unusual circumstances, but I am very grateful! Alongside attending a wedding and catching up with an old friend, I am also trying to cram in the reading of: Set in Old Prague and published in 1915 this is a twisted horror. Perhaps not the most lighthearted of Luggage Books, but certainly atmospheric!

The first of the Luggage Book Summer Trio is here, brought to you from the dramatic shoreline of Sneem, County Kerry. However, the book is set in County Galway... close enough you might think. I'm avidly searching for one set closer to Sneem - mainly because I like the name and say it at every opportunity! Where are you? What are your plans for the summer, and what are you reading?

Somewhat unexpectedly I have found myself in the enviable position of going on holiday thrice in the coming three weeks. Who've thought it? Of course, this means the planning of trips and reading matter. Some speed reading may be required in order to fit in one book per week whilst also enjoying my travels. Look out for weekly posts of my Luggage Books... Where will you be this summer, and what will you be reading? Stuck for ideas? Browse the site for inspiration!

Is preparing for 3 different holidays locations in 3 weeks: Co Kerry, Prague and Dumfries & Galloway (where I always read Five Red Herrings by Dorothy L Sayers). Any recommendations?

Where will you be and what will you be reading?

I'm thinking about a journey...

I wanted this blog and Luggage Book to take shape for such a long time... somehow I managed to get everything working, but then technology go the better of me and now I'm not so sure... maps and hyperlinks don't appear to be working together too well. However, I'm not going to let that defeat me. A recommendation has been shared - a book detailing a journey of quite another kind. [ 56 more words. ]

My Parisian Luggage Book :)

Kosher sushi, kebabs, a second hand bookshop and a bar: the 19th arrondissement in Paris is a cosmopolitan neighbourhood where multicultural citizens live, love and worship alongside one another. This peace is shattered when Ahmed Taroudant's melancholy daydreams are interrupted by the blood drip...

A chill winds blows...

The Autumn season is well and truly upon us - dark mornings and even darker nights. But spare a thought for our Skandinavian cousins, who see daylight even less than us for the next few months. Capturing the dark, the chill and the sense of unease in a book can only make the sanctitude of our own homes more comforting...
