She would say to Garrison, " The ground upon which you stand is holy ground: never-never surrender it. If you surrender it, hope of the slave is extinguished." Tourism Day tally

Fifteen hospitality industry businesses raised $6,905 on “Tourism Day” last month for One80 place, the largest provider of services to people experiencing homelessness in South Carolina.

Officials with the Charleston Tours Association presented the donation to the organization on Jan. 18.

Every December, participating tourism-related businesses such as tour companies and guides and historical museums donate 10 percent of their revenue to the local nonprofit.

One80 Place has a wide range of programs and services to help prevent and end homelessness. Close to $8,000 was raised for the group on the inaugural Tourism Day in 2021. The trade organization has made it an annual tradition.

Sept. 19, 1835: Angelina's letter to William Lloyd Garrison was published in his abolitionist newspaper called "The Liberator". This letter is the catalyst in her movement to becoming an Abolitionist.
"I can hardly express to thee the deep and solemn interest with which I have viewed the violent proceedings of the last weeks. The ground upon which you stand is holy ground: never – never surrender it. If you surrender it, the hope of the slave is extinguished. If persecution is the means by which God has ordained for the accomplishment of this great end, EMANCIPATION; then … I feel as if I could say, LET IT COME, for it is my deep, solemn deliberate conviction, that this is a cause worth dying for."
