Who else is egg-cited for Easter? Hop to it and book onto one of our Easter Holiday activities! 🐰
🐣 2nd April 10am - 12pm Fire Lighting & Campfire Crafts
Become a true woodland warrior and learn the art of outdoor fire lighting. Will you learn the secret to survival? Try out some ancient fire crafts and learn almost-forgotten skills of the past. Become a prehistoric craftsman and travel back 5000 years to cast your own unique trinket from pewter to take home with you. Discover how to make charcoal on a campfire and use it to create beautiful artwork. Obviously man is reliant on fire for cooking, so the morning wouldn’t be complete without toasting marshmallows! Aimed at families with children aged 8-14. https://www.visitsouthsomerset.com/events/nature-and-wildlife/fire-lighting-and-campfires-at-ham-hill-country-park.htm
🐣 4th April 10am - 12pm An Eggcellent Eggy Eggxtravaganza
It’s easter and we’re celebrating by keeping everything eggy! Decorate your egg, join in with the egg rolling – furthest wins! Play catch the egg but watch out for the raw one! A grand old egg & spoon race next, parents too! Then find all the egg tokens hidden around the stone circle. They make a sentence to unlock the ranger’s secret egg safe. https://www.visitsouthsomerset.com/events/nature-and-wildlife/an-eggcellent-eggy-eggxtravaganza-at-ham-hill-country-park.htm
🐣 5th April 10am - 11.30am Woodland Wander & Den Building
The days are getting longer, the flowers are in bloom and the birds are singing – Spring has sprung! Join us at Ham Hill to take in this magical time of year with a morning of woodland adventure. Take a walk with Jasmine the ranger, who will show you the wildlife here at Ham Hill that marks the arrival of spring – a great way to get some exercise, fresh air and sunshine. Get hands-on and build your own den. We’ll provide everything you need. Will your den be stable enough to sit inside? Will it be waterproof? Fingers crossed for no April showers! Create a beautiful print by ‘leaf bashing’ to take home with you – and remind you to keep looking for the signs of spring all season! Aimed at families with children aged 5 – 10. https://www.visitsouthsomerset.com/events/nature-and-wildlife/woodland-wander-and-den-building.htm
🐣 11th April 10am - 11.30am Fossil Fun
Join us and step back in time 170 million years for a Jurassic adventure! Rock up to Ham Hill and discover the amazing fossils that have been found here. Why not get creative and make your own beautiful ammonite from clay? Try casting your own seashell fossil using plaster of paris to remind you of your visit. Learn about some of our prehistoric plants that still grow at Ham Hill today, and create beautiful pictures to take home with you, just like the fossilised ferns that have been found in Somerset! Aimed at families with children ages 4 - 9. https://www.visitsouthsomerset.com/events/nature-and-wildlife/fossil-fun-at-ham-hill-country-park.htm
🐣 12th April 10am - 11.30am Spring Forest Fun for Mini-Adventurers
Join us on a Spring woodland adventure! Gather materials and build a mini-den for some forest friends. Will you make a house for a mouse? Or a home for a gnome? Perhaps even a hidey-hole for a mole? Play with clay or decorate your own tree cookie necklace so you can take a piece of the woodland home with you! Have a go at toasting your own marshmallows on the campfire and make the most of the new life bursting from the woods this spring! Aimed at families with children aged 3-5.
