Another great day trip idea! We drove over to the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport. Around an hour and a half away, it’s an easy drive down I-10 or down the coast through Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, and Biloxi.
The Aquarium is located across the street from the port of Gulfport and is new, clean, and bright. Don’t miss the daily dolphin feeding session!

The Sea Turtle weathered another storm! Hurricane Ida moved a lot of sand from the beach to the driveway but we are so thankful the Gulf tide surge didn’t take out the stairs!
Still waiting for power and water to be restored. Thank you to wonderful neighbors for taking pictures for us and keeping us updated!

Looking for a fun day trip while you are vacationing at The Sea Turtle? The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is a great place to visit!

We drove over via I-10 through Mobile. Our first stop was Buc-ee's. You have to see it to believe it...

Next stop, Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo - "The Little Zoo That Could". We ate lunch at the Safari Club restaurant in the zoo. Excellent food and beautiful atmosphere! The zoo is just the right size and the exhibits make it easy to get up-close views of the animals. They do Animal Encounters for an added cost. The Kangaroo Encounter is amazing. They are sooooo soft!

We ended the day with a ride back to Dauphin Island on the Mobile Bay Ferry. Check the schedule and arrive early to get a spot. It fills up! You can explore Fort Morgan while you wait. Once on the ferry, you can get out of your car and enjoy the boat ride across the bay. We had fun watching the birds “catch a ride” with us.
