Central Nippon Expressway Pass (CEP) that covered Aichi, Fukui, Gifu, Ishikawa, Kanagawa, Mie, Nagano, Shiga, Shizuoka, Toyama, and Yamanashi Prefectures, are no longer available
starting from October 1, 2024.

However, customers who have already applied (with reservations made by September 30) will still be able to use the CEP.

*Please note that some rental car offices may stop accepting CEP request before October 1. In such cases, we will contact you in advance.

This change applies not only to Toyota Rent-a-Car but also to other companies such as Times and Nissan.

Shizuoka is becoming an increasingly popular destination for travel by rental car. Most of our rental car customers are heading there to visit Mt. Fuji or go camping. They usually spend most of their time around Lake Kawaguchi or Fuji City and tend to stay in Shizuoka City for a day before heading to the airport.

Gas stations offer "Regular Gasoline (Red)", "Premium Gasoline (Yellow)", and "Diesel (Green)". Most rental cars use "Regular Gasoline(Red)". When returning your rental car, please make sure to keep the receipt as proof that you filled the tank.

These are photos of a 7-seater and an 8-seater vehicle. If you want to specify the type of vehicle, an additional fee of 2,200 yen will be charged. As you can see in the photos, even the 8-seater vehicle will be cramped for three adults in the 2nd and 3rd rows.

Try requesting a "Wakaba mark" or a "foreign driver mark" when you rent a car at a shop. If they don’t have it, you can purchase one at a Daiso store and place it on the back of your car. This way, even if you are not very confident in your driving in Japan, others will be more considerate of you.

🚘CEP Pass Info

You can purchase a pass starting from a 2-day rental period, and both the pick-up and drop-off locations must be stores that handle the CEP pass
*The Nagoya Expressway Pass (NEP) and Aichi Toll Road Pass (AIP) cannot be purchased individually, and can only be purchased with the Central Nippon Expressway Pass (CEP).

This pass also includes limited entry and exit access from Tokyo and Kyoto.

Just enter the name of the attraction or address of a building in the search bar and the corresponding mapcode will be displayed at the bottom left corner.

(Red) Maximum fare, Mon-Sat: Until 24:00 on the day of entry, 3,900 yen.

For example, if you enter on Monday at 8:00 AM and exit at 6:00 PM, the fee would be 10,000 yen for 10 hours, but since the maximum fare is 3,900 yen, you only need to pay 3,900 yen.

According to Japanese traffic laws, children under 6 years old must be seated in a child car seat.

When making a reservation, select the number of children based on their age, and the child car seat will be automatically requested.

Even if your child is 7 or 8 years old and needs a booster seat, please select the age range from 4 to under 6 years old.

You cannot install a child car seat in the front passenger seat (1st row).
If you install a child car seat in the 2nd or 3rd row, even in a large SUV class, seating two adults next to it will be difficult.
