It's been 3 months since we were on the beach last time so we decided we need to take a short break and get to one before coming back to Europe. We spent only three days on the Vietnamese Island Phu Quoc but it felt great to be surrounded by coconut palm trees and watch sunset from the beach again!!!
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the end of the Second Indochina war. Without a doubt it is a day to celebrate but let's not forget about the damaging long term effects it left on countries in the region. One of them is the UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) which in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam is still killing innocent people. It is estimated that 1500 people are killed in Vietnam every year and more than 20 000 have died in Laos as well as Cambodia as a result of UXO since the end of the war.
Yesterday we were exploring the canals around Ben Tre and today after a morning scooter disastrous arrangement we arrived to Can Tho. Itinerary decided, price agreed, hands shaken and kisses exchanged. Tomorrow at 5am we are going to see floating markets and noodle factory in a small boat with a Vietnamese woman :)
Since our last travel news we moved from Hoi An to the coffee capital of Vietnam - Buon Ma Thout and today we got to Ho Chi Minh City but here's the short clip from yesterday!
From Laos to Vietnam
Loooong bus journey from Laos to Vietnam. Overcrowded, uncomfortable, dangerous but fun in a weird way!!!
Everybody knows that when travelling as important as the places are the people. Sometimes it's the fellow travellers, sometimes it's total strangers and sometimes it's the locals who make up for a good vibe. Meet the 'paperhead man' who made Eliana's profile in less than1 min.
The Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is stunningly beautiful. It's probably the best park we have seen so far and if you visit you should definitely explore it on a scooter. It's a land filled with green mountains, enormous caves and thousands of butterflies. Through it passes the most scenic part of Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam!
Just finished 2-day trek in #khaosok national park! When trekking in deep forest #bamboo can be the most useful plant and your best friend. From it you can easily make drinking glasses, food dishes, spoons and also you can use it for cooking rice or water. Thanks to our guide we learnt few tricks on how to adapt in Thai jungle!
