South Dakota Opportunity Group The South Dakota Opportunity Group promotes fact based policies that promote quality outdoor experiences for the benefit of all the people of South Dakota.

Ephemeral wetland and upland nesting habitat degradation in Prairie Pothole Region is an important issue that not only affects waterfowl, but pheasants and native wildlife species. It is also a point where we tactically diverge from other sportsmen groups in South Dakota. We do not believe that managing a declining landscape for ever fewer and fewer stakeholders, principally resident waterfowl hun

ters, will reverse this decline. In fact we believe the opposite, that it will only create a negative feed back loop that will further exacerbate the decline of habitat over the long term.
