Preliminary questions are essential as a prerequisite in the early planning stages of any Bathroom Remodeling project. Here are some questions to consider that may be crucial in guiding you through your bathroom makeover decisions:
Is there enough storage space for incidentals; towels, paper products etc. (a vanity with a matching pier cabinet?)
Would a double sink speed things up in the morning? Do we have the minimum 60” to allow for this; if not we will find a way to achieve it. Is there a need for an additional bathroom (basements are a good option). Is it possible to extend our countertop to achieve additional space (custom countertop) granite, Corian or marble. Is our lighting adequate? Recessed lighting? Wall sconce? Encapsulated light in the shower? Ventilation? Is your current ventilation properly sized/whisper quiet? How important is your tub? Can we replace with a tiled shower pan and glass walls? Is it economically feasible to change fixture layout in order to gain space? Can we remove an existing linen closet for the purpose of gaining additional space? Do I want a transfer valve in my shower to accept a hand held showerhead in addition to a regular showerhead? Are there drawbacks or advantages of porcelain tile opposed to materials that require special sealing and ongoing maintenance? Is my water pressure adequate? Does the water turn cold after two people take a shower? What’s better for warranty purposes – Kohler or American Standard fixtures?
