After 30ml of rain overnight, Agnes Falls was pumping. Just a short drive from Walkerville Shores and an easy walk from the carpark.

A nankeen kestrel that has now been a regular visitor during the last week. It has enjoyed drinking from our water feature and surveying the scene from our new deck extension ( 8 metres above ground).

If you have not heard koalas before - listen to our raucous (and vicious) visitors this afternoon. Hopefully they will be quiet tonight because they are perched right outside our bedroom window.

The grunts and bellows of koalas are so loud they can sometimes be heard several kilometres away. You're most likely to hear the sounds of their gruntings at sunrise and sunset. This is what was heard early this morning at the rear of Walkerville Shores. After exploring the gum trees, no koala was sighted even though it sounded very close.
Not long after, the sweet melodies of a lyrebird could be heard. Listening closer, it was imitating a whip bird, a rosella and other local birds – all mixed up in one. The amazing mimicry of the superb lyrebird can be heard here

Now seriously wondering whether the grunts belonged to a koala or a lyrebird imitating a koala.
Just love the sounds of nature at its best !!

Nesting on our back wall. This grey shrike thrush successfully defended her chicks against at least five kookaburras. All have now ventured out into the Cape Liptrap surrounds.
